NAPLES, Fla. — A woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for killing her neighbor's Chihuahua with a shotgun, telling the dog's owner she was horribly frightened by the pooch.
Wanda Ziglar, 49, of Golden Gate, pleaded no contest Tuesday to one felony count of animal cruelty. Senior Judge Jack Schoonover agreed to withhold a formal finding of guilt of the charge.
Ziglar was arrested July 31 after admitting she shot and killed the dog, which belonged to her then-neighbor, Marisol Olegnichar. Ziglar told deputies the Chihuahua repeatedly wandered into her yard.

Absolute IRONY how this story was posted adjacent to one about Terri Schiavo. The killer of this DOG got in more trouble than Greer and M.S. -- although the Terri case is waking up an apathetic bunch (not near enough yet!)
We had better get up off our butts and get our schools and courthouses back under the control of WE the PEOPLE!

Chu-wawas are the most dangerous sort of dog! They steal bread and put nose-goblins under your bed.
The woman is obviously a crackpot and shooting a little dog is rediculous, but the owner really should have kept the dog off of her property in the first place.
My white trash neighbors have a Chihuahua and two pit-bull mix pups. The little rat dog wandered into our yard yesterday to use it as a toilet, while the pups snarled and strained at their chains across the street. I went outside and yelled at the little rat dog to go away, and the darned thing started to charge me, yapping and baring its tiny little teeth of fury. I figured they may be small, but they're still teeth, and I didn't fancy having to doctor up any bloody ankle wounds, and so hastened back into the house. Next time, I'll grab my pistol before trying to shoo one of those critters from the yard!
I can understand her agravation, if the dog continually entered her yard. (no doubt to relieve itself)
I know enough about chihuahuas and their reaction to loud noises though, that I just don't believe she fired two warning shots and then shot to kill. Any chihuahua I have ever known, would have been out of range before the buckshot left the muzzle of the shotgun.
