I wrote this to a FReeper earlier. She was feeling much frustration with many here I believe because of what was, in her mind, a careless disregard for morality and the well-being of an innocent and quite defenseless girl, Terri Schiavo.
The intelligent and good FReeper was at the point of wanting to leave FR. So I wrote her:
*****
Don't go, please. You're one of the folks here with a real good heart and very strong feelings. That is a very good combination. Don't go ........
I'm getting a feeling (or a wish) that today (Wednesday) the Federal marshals or some others are going to take control of this abysmal situation. Unlike the Elian Gonzalez catastrophe, this will be for the good of a human being.
Maybe in the future it can be referred to as 'Good Wednesday'. Because the more I learn about this entire case, this girl has been done wrong since the very beginning and things must be righted. What is happening now must end....... well.

I implore all who care about the wrongness of all this to contact the White House, contact anyone who could have something to do with getting action TODAY. There can not be any more wasted time and destruction of this innocent girl. If this husband is much of what we suspect, this matter should not be allowed to end in her death by these brutal means!
Familiar in that the governor who let that happen is unlikely to do anything impolite or tacky to prevent this woman from being starved to death.
Not that I am certain of what could be done; I just feel there has to be SOMETHING.

I was amazed very late last night when I saw on the crawl on the bottom of Fox News that Felos had said that the parents trying to get Terri's feed tube reinsurted was a taking away Terris liberty---(paraphrase)
I believe that since Judge Greer ignored a subpoena from the US Congress to appear, then Terri's family should have the right to ignore any restrictions put on them to remove Terri from the hospice and take her out of state---
How about Crawford Ranch, or Camp David---of Vatican City--?
Re-read his post. He hasn't "advocated" anything.
-------------------------------------------------------
I am suggesting that we perform our solemn duties as patrioic freedom loving Americans.
I am advocating that we as Americans refuse to honour unjust laws.
I am saying that every American who loves freedom and who loves liberty has a solemn duty and a moral obligation to bring water and nourishment to Terri Schiavo.
The strength of nonviolence comes from our willingness to take personal risk without threatening other people.
Most of the time, the issue around feeding tubes for dementia patients, is that they refuse to eat. They just quit eating. Have you noticed that old people, usually but not always, get thin. At some point they start to fade, to get smaller. Families are in a fix at this point. Because the person simply does not want to eat so many are loathe to subject their demented older parents to a surgery.
It is not as simple as your post suggests. For some, when a person with Altzheimers refuses to eat and starts to fade away, it is as if this is the way nature deals with it. Terri's case is different.
I would say a crowd of people bearing water marching on hospice is, well, potentially a violent scene and won't change a thing.
Though this Atlanta appeals court has turned down the first request, it did not say it would turn down additional requests.
Email from a friend about the Prayer Vigils going on...
Subject: Urgent help needed! Please make plans to attend spread the word to help Terri!
Dear Prolife Warriors,
We are organizing a round the clock prayer vigil and demonstration ASAP. Those of you who are able please go ASAP to the 11th circuit court of Appeals. Many of you already know the news, Terri's hands are in the Federal Court system here in Atlanta as of this morning. Judge Wittemore decided to do nothing and dismissed the case, so it has now been brought before a 3 Judge panel here in Atlanta. This is in our back yard folks, please make every effort to join in this battle and be present. Spread the word and invite your clergy friends. PLease bring poster board for your own signs and markers, plastic wrap for your signs might be important, as it is supposed to rain today. Be sure to bring umbrellas, rain gear, chairs or lounge chairs (for those who can stay the night) and blankets, even a change of clothes and shoes, due to the rain. Listed below are directions if you are coming from the North side of town down 75.
On Sunday I was going to send out an email asking for folks to join us in Florida, then we got news that an overnight special session was going to be held in DC. and that Terri's feeding tube could be re-inserted as early as Monday morning. Well unfortunately the case was assigned to a Clinton Appointee Judge and he did nothing. Now it is here....
For Life!
This is being done by a pro-life friend. Freep mail me if interested or need more information.
well, seems to be fomenting if you ask me.
This is a horrible day but revolution is not the answer. There may be no immediate answer. But I know a mob scene isn't any answer at all.
I do not see the logic in you feeling the need to leave Fr OR the Republican Party---I have noticed that Fr has become an almost total "Save Terri" website the last few days, and the Republicans in Congress, and President Bush have really pushed for any solution---it is the dems that are fighting it, if you want to blame this on a particular "party"--But
The activist judges like Greer have been elected into office by the people of Florida and elsewhere--the appointed ones have probably ALL been put in place under the Clinton administration---
I really do not get where you are coming from--Free Republic is a SOLUTION not the problem--
There has been much said about what the Republican party has to lose if Terri loses her life.
Yes, we are a nation of laws, but a nation of laws written by people. Unless we have the humility to question the end application of those laws and question the possibility that the labrynth of laws which can excute an innocent person may be, in isolation logical, but in sum, an illogical conclusion, those laws will never sit well with the law etched on the hearts of those led by eternal truths. We can never allow the laws of men, no matter how well written, to usurpe Gods laws. For those whose god is mans law, this may be all that they can turn to, but for those that see mans law as an imperfect reflection of Gods natural law (and always questioning our ability to interpret it with humility) we must not allow this to continue.
I hope key Republican leaders are hearing this loud and clear...I have been a loyal Republican for one reason and one reason alone...to overturn Roe v Wade, stop the flood of death by reason, bring freedom to a world in tyranny, and bring back God to our nation. I will not vote Republican again if we can't with 7 of the last 9 Presidents, a Republican majority for years in Congress, and the countless judical appointees change our laws back to a nation of humility and right to life. If we can't save one human being from starvation and dehyration then this party is impotent and it is time for change.
It looks like the left, the Clinton judiciary and the MSM will have their way and succeed in starving Terri to death. Her supporters should therefore make it a point to ensure that her death means something.
They should hold an hourly press conference "death watch" on the hospital steps and release updates on her medical condition as her heart beat falters, as her tongue swells, as she twitches and moans, as her eyes roll.
By the time they finish killing her, there will be tens of thousands at her funeral and the liberal politicians, the so called "death democrats", will be the fight of their political fight to hold their seats in the next election. Who knows, the clamor might even get the changes passed that will ensure that Bush gets his judicial nominations through the Senate.
Can the President and the Atty Gen not enforce this?
I know at the very least the President should use his "bully pulpit" to speak out again against this murder. Jeb Bush could do the same.
But we are supposed to believe they have done all they can, and for them it's back to business as usual.
I am sick of people blaming the President for not doing more. I think that Terri is being murdered too, but there has to be some rational thinking going on. Our government has taken some very bold steps to help this woman and now we will have to let a higher judge (God) deal with these people.
At this point we have seen a circuit court judge from the State of Florida disregard a subpeona from Congress.
Unless you act today to enforce that writ from Congress, Terri Schiavo will die.
She will be the first non terminal innocent, incapacitated person to be ordered to die by starvation and dehydration by a court of law.
That is against the Constitution, the will of Congress, and every moral code of which I am familiar.
I now have seen how the judiciary at all levels is more intent with protecting each other than with following the will of Congress,or extending mercy that is routinely given to mass murderers and rapists.
This cannot stand. You must act by Executive Order, today, to send the US Marshals, to protect a witness who is summoned to appear before Congress.
Let the judiciary rage. A wrong MUST be righted. And you have been given the power to do this.
Please act. Tomorrow will be too late.
*******
Great letter. Everyone send one, please.
You folks in Florida, go in there and give her some water.
I disagree. Don't get me wrong, I think Michael should be found to be incompetent to remain as Terri's guardian. BUT - I believe the giving away of the bride at a wedding ceremony has more than just symbolic meeting.
****
Exactly.
we can still write to President Bush, Gov. Bush and Bill Frist. Ask then to send in marshalls to enforce those supoenas. If you haven't written or called anyone over this issue please do it NOW
email President Bush president@whitehouse.gov
Governor Bush jeb.bush@myflorida.com
