Annan son received $300,000 payments (game's up)
Financial Times ^ | March 23, 2005 | Claudio Gatti

Kojo Annan, son of Kofi Annan, United Nations secretary-general, received at least $300,000 from Cotecna, a Swiss inspection company awarded a contract ultimately worth about $60m under the Iraqi oil-for-food contract.

The amount was almost double the sum previously disclosed, but payments were arranged in ways that obscured where the money came from or whom it went to.

The discovery, in a joint investigation by Il Sole 24 Ore, the Italian business daily, and the Financial Times, comes as the independent UN inquiry led by Paul Volcker into possible abuses within the oil-for-food programme prepares to publish a new report on this matter.

Its findings, expected next Tuesday, will address allegations that Kojo's family connections may have helped Cotecna obtain the UN contract.

Kojo Annan worked for Cotecna in Nigeria until December 1997. He was later retained first as a consultant and then on an unusual “non-compete” contract. Cotecna categorically denies any impropriety.

It insists his work had nothing to do with the UN contract and that it never took advantage of Kojo's access to the secretary-general.

But the FT/Il Sole investigation reveals that senior executives from Cotecna met Kofi Annan on various occasions once at his UN office.

A UN spokesman said the meetings had nothing to do with a contract awarded under the oil-for-food programme. Kojo Annan declined to comment.

In November Kofi Annan said he was “very disappointed and surprised” after it emerged that Kojo had received monthly “non-compete” payments from Cotecna four years after the relationship was believed to have ended.

Your number WILL come up! The world is so full of opportunity at every imaginable level that, assuming you are serious and willing to do your homework, you will run into that "problem." You have two choices: choose an area of interest and study it to the N'th or pay attention to everything around you and be ready when it walks into you. But I promise you this: the situation you get to clean up will be something you never could have imagined going in. Good luck and keep plugging----

Cotecna, Swiss Corp.

Cotecna has a RICH sound to me. As in Marc........JMO

I believe Rich, along with Saddam was the architect of the OFF program.

Friends of Koffee >>

Friends of Soros.

And friend of the KKKling Tongs.

Webster Hubbell's daughter, Chelsea Kling Tong's Trust Fund didn't get to be worth upwards of Three Billion Dollars without a lot of help from Rich people.

THISDAY ONLINE is a Nigerian website and anti-USA. I had to register to read articles. The Editorials are blaming Bush for oil prices, Condi being hawkish on Iran, blah, blah, koffee problems are all Bush's fault.

Is Nigeria a commie country?

Isn't this where blowjo Wilson went for tea and found no yellow cake being sold to Saddam?

It's a small, small world..after all.

Once a thriving British colony but, like everywhere else they weren't long ago kicked the Hell out of, abandoned by the once-great british to a surrogate handful of corrupt and despotic elitist thugs, Nigeria is now a pre-stone-age country descending into sharia rule, rape, murder, sexual mutilation and barbarism.

"Commie" and "once a british colony" are pretty much the same thing.

Niger is the neighboring sh*thole that Wilson junketed to and despite that it has only two exports -- and the Iraqis weren't there after cow peas -- Wilson, who it's rumored also couldn't find his own arse with both hands tied behind his back, was unable to detect the Iraqi's interest in uranium.

So he sipped tea for a week -- on your Dollar and mine -- and junketed off home.

That $300,000 was probably just one installment. The company had every reason in the world to give him millions and I'll bet they did.

With the preliminary Volker report it's apparent he's been turned. What was all that "Mismangement but not criminal" B.S. about?

Now Volker will have to change his report to reflect what has just been made public. Just so everybody won't scream whitewash if he doesn't let this cat out of the bag.

Volker's a piece of crap that will give a glowing report...or say that all the U.N.'s problems will be solved if the US will just pledge 0.7% of GDP.

Maybe more by now.

That was its projected worth from about eighteen months ago.
