TAMPA, Fla. - Warning that Terri Schiavo is "fading quickly," her parents begged a federal appeals court Tuesday to order the severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube reinserted while they pursue claims that her rights are being violated.

David Gibbs III, attorney for parents Bob and Mary Schindler, told the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta that their 41-year-old daughter might die before they get a chance to fully argue their case. The appeal came after a federal judge in Tampa rejected the parents' emergency request earlier Tuesday.
"Where, as here, death is imminent, it is hard to imagine more critical and exigent circumstances," Gibbs said in the appeal, filed electronically with the court. "Terri is fading quickly and her parents reasonably fear that her death is imminent."

I have wondered the same thing all day. At first I thought it was about spring, i.e. melting snow, but that doesn't make a lot of sense.
I hovered my curser over the Google logo (say THAT 3 times fast after a few drinks!) and a note popped up saying 'World Water Day'. So someone somewhere has declared this to be World Water Day and Google apparently is unsure whether the Googleglass is half-empty or half-full.
Thank you for a thoughtful, reasoned post and for adding the last paragraph.

Portuguese explorers were amazed when they arrived in Goa in the 1500s and there were practicing Christians there who told of a man from the west who had brought them the Gospel.
Sorry, but when did this become to complicated?
A disabled woman without a "living will" has an estranged husband who wants this over; and a family ready and willing to accept all responsibility for her continued care and recovery.
Terri is aware of her surroundings, responds to it, feels pain, and does not need "extraordinary medical measures" to keep her alive; just food and water.
How do these circumstances translate into court-ordered murder?
I know... Congress requested a "de novo" case (or so I thought). What's the harm of re-inserting the tube while a new set of eyes looks over all affidavits, etc. related to Terri's situation? It seems to me that all avenues haven't been exhausted...
It sure smells, doesn't it?
Still superb steveegg!
Thank you.

madprof98,
At the risk of offending you, you have just hit the nail on the head. Many Catholics are taught that by the Baptism itself, are they saved. And then they must always follow it with other acts, not faith, nor acceptance of Jesus.
When a church (any church) begins to do things by categories (such as communion at/by such an age, and so on) it begins to be about numbers and in those numbers strength.
The problem isn't just with the laity; it starts right there in the office of the Priesthood. There are many non-believers in the Priesthood. And though God's WORD will never return empty, a non-believer will never, ever, encourage someone to really read the Word deeply, for fear of it truly Calling them.
The tragedy is that this truth is only brought to light in times of great moral crisis, such as this event. And this, my friend, has been a long time coming.
Well, when the law itself is the reason that such an injustice can be perpetrated, then (as someone said) THE LAW IS AN ASS.
Being purely legalistic, and using that as cover to allow murder to be committed before all our eyes is, inexcusable and stupid. There IS a place for just plain common sense in the application of the law. Those who deny it are perpetuating foolishness
I havent been following all the posts TOO MANY
But has it been discussed that since the feeding tube was removed on Friday and the media is showing more video of Terri that the polls have changed? Just a few days ago it was 63 percent supporting the husband and now its dropping quick.
HOW ABOUT A PRESIDENTIAL ORDER? Would that do any good?
Maybe all this won't result in any changes to the law today, but the debate it fostered will lead to changes in the law, that are constitutionally sound so that future incidents like this will not occur. Maybe it's too late to save Terri, but perhaps, her death will not be in vain. Had Terri's parents not fought the fight, then nothing would have changed.

Already happening: Punch this
It became pretty complicated when the Florida legislature provided for withdrawing health care from certain patients.
Some people lament the fact that we conservatives are arguing passionately over this issue. I consider it healthy.
Probably because most conservatives are for preserving innocent human life is why we argue so passionately for it. I know that I can't just keep quiet about something like this :)
