At this time Terri was able to chew and swallow and was learning to use the pararall bars to walk again...as soon as the malpactice law suit was won Michael Schiavo remember his wife wanted to die...so he would move her from one location to another every time they thought she was ready to start rehab again!

Lets try to have the same page to fight the MISLEADING OUT THERE!

Because I find it easier to take the word of someone who has been questioned under oath several times vs. someone who has never been subjected to cross examination and who clearly never spoke to the parents about all this. I find that incredible.

Because in his effort to care for Terri, he became a rehab specialist. And for a dozen other reasons you've probably already seen me post.

This article is illuminating in how the Schindlers spoke so well of Michael, until money entered the picture. And if they had suspicions that something happened to her, why did they wait for 12 years to raise them? And if you're going to say it's because they never saw her bone scan and he hid documents from them, I have links that prove that is not the case.

That's a very strong assumption on your part. So then why did he embark on his mission to kill her - excuse me, let her die - after finishing his education (paid for by the settlement money)?

Wait'll you see the "high-fives" and victory dances by a few FReepers around here when Terri dies. (Fortunately, the pro-death FReepers are in the distinct minority).

But look at their posts...peppered with smugness, levity, sarcasm, jokes, "ROTFLMAO", etc.

All on an issue concerning the death of an innocent woman at the hands of the state.

It was five years after he got the settlement money that he petitioned the courts to see if her feeding tube should be removed. Five. Not immediately after.

As stated in 2001, by the Florida 2nd District Court of appeals in their support of the foundation ruling (linked to below, they found that there was clear and convincing evidence that she wouldn't want the tube to remain.

They also noted that Michael did not make the decision - he asked the court to listen to both sides and for the court to take his role in this matter of her tube. He did not have to do that. He could have forced he parents to challenge his legal decision from a less powerful position.

And, btw, court documents support that the Schindlers admitted under oath they knew that Terri was PVS.

I said after he completed his training. I'm not sure how long that took, but I'd guess about two years or so. He paid for his training with the money he received from the settlement.

Just as an aside, doctors suggested that Michael remove Terri's tube in 1993 and 1994. Doctors frequently make these recommendations to family members.

Like most of us, the thought it was a cruel thing to do and refused. Then his parents, who were terminally ill, based on the decisions of the entire family and the doctors, died this way. He saw that it was peacefully done and lost his aversion.

We had to make this decision for an elderly relative and I can report the same thing.

So? The lady moves, recognizes people, communicates verbally to an extent, notifies people when her diaper is soiled, etc. Call it PVS or whatever you like, but that's not brain dead.

Have you googled Persistent Vegetative Status? I know what the heavily edited video shows. It's not uncommon for patients to do the things that Terri does, but there is no recognition there. They do those things whether someone is in the room or not.

I respect your opinion. I just don't like to see the absolute falsehoods posted on FR. We're a repository for every conspiracy theory surrounding this case there is. I would rather rely on 15 years of court documents and testimony under oath and in most cases, the parents own words.

"They had doctors who said it happened thousands of times a day in America."

Well, so long as it happens thousands of times a day, that makes it okay, huh? Kind of like abortion is okay for the same reason.

I think your standards for right and wrong are a bit flawed.

And also, given that the parents visit her frequently and see all the things and more that we've seen in the video, why did they admit that they knew their daughter was PVS?

Because they had consulted with the gazillions of doctors and therapists who treated their daughter and knew that after 3 months, there's never been anyone who has come back from PVS.

If you want to advocate for keeping people alive despite life saving feeding tubes, why don't you contact your legislators and try to change the laws?

You will never get through to Peach. He/She is one of the most tireless death-to-Terri advocates on this board.

I feel reasonable certain I will receive a "show me where I am in favor of Terri's death?" responses, but the message is clear. Peach will deny it, but a simple review of his/ her many posts over the past few days are very much in favor of Terri dying, and soon.

I live in Texas, not Florida.

BTW, do you think this is a good law?

Fortunately, we do not have this kind of insanity in the Texas courts. At least not that I've heard of.

Yes, although I'm by no means an authority. Experts differ on her reaction; my novice eye sees recognition. Plus I take the word of so many others who spent a great deal of time with her.

I respect your opinion. I just don't like to see the absolute falsehoods posted on FR. We're a repository for every conspiracy theory surrounding this case there is. I would rather rely on 15 years of court documents and testimony under oath and in most cases, the parents own words.

And while I disagree with your opinion, I respect and appreciate your civil way in discussing your thoughts. I share your concern with the falsehoods and innuendo, but that applies on both sides of this case.

I don't know of too many folks, if anyone, who expects Terri to "come back" (fully recover) from whatever damaged state she's in. But there's hope among many that she'll respond to treatment - treatment that has been denied for a long time.

That patients are removed from feeding tubes on doctors advice? We've done it in our family for an elderly relative. It's been done for years. And yes, I understand that abortion has been done for years as well which I don't support.

And although you don't live in Florida, I can guarantee that your state has similar laws. In fact there was a post on FR last night. It's astounding to me and I'm pretty shocked by it. But then Governor Bush signed legislation that family members can be removed from life saving equipment (and many states consider feeding tubes to be life saving equipment) even against the wishes of the family! Search around FR for that legislation and article. I'm pretty shocked he'd sign that. To my knowledge, this was never done without the advice of doctors and the family's consent.

"It's impossible to have a discussion about anything these days without someone playing the Nazi card, isn't it?"

The whole "any reference to Nazis is off-limits" argument is extremely lame.

Why should thinking people not be allowed to discuss a case where euthanasia was implemented, and learn from it?

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

It's responses like that which have made it nearly impossible to have a conversation about this matter.

And, btw, did you know that then Governor Bush signed legislation in Texas making it possible to remove people from life saving equipment (in many states feeding tubes are considered in that category) against the family's consent?

There was an article on FR last night about it. I'm pretty astounded. Typically cases like this were decided between doctors and family members, but I've never heard it done against the famly's wishes and don't approve of that.

LOL.

So let's see. COnservatives complain when the left compares the president to Hitler.

But it's okay to do to freepers who are trying to have a conversation and debunk the absolute lies concerning this matter?

Okay. Well, as long as I know the rules.
