??? No, I was referring specifically to the lies and demonizations and perpetuations of such, many alleged "Christians" have done just to try to keep Terri's body alive.

Actually, having a tube directly implanted into a person's stomach is an "artificial" means since the "normal" way is via the mouth. Don't you agree?

Also, you're confusing an active action of murder with the passive action (or more accurately, inaction) of letting nature takes its course.

After all, were it not for modern medical science; Terri would've died within several days of her collapse.

By way of illustration (albeit only tangential), imagine if you will a drowned child who is only kept alive by a life support machine in the hospital emergency. This child is brain dead (I know, I know, not the same with Terri but bear with me). Which is murder, injecting the child with cyanide or pulling the plug?

That is the difference between murder and letting nature take its course.

He may not have abused her then, as there is no evidence available right now to say definitively one way or the other(presumption of innocence). He is, however, most definitely abusing her now.

You're making a lot of claims that you'll have to support. Where's the evidence he tried to kill his wife and the evidence he killed a family pet. Not to mention melting down a wedding ring.

It was two cats. He had her rings melted and made into a ring for himself.
He said it himself on Larry King Live last year.

Why are you so afraid to let Terri join Christ in heaven?

If someone is dying of disease, then yes let them go. To FORCE the issue by witholding sustanance is nothing short of MURDER. So, are YOU a Christian or a murder supporter????

Semper disgusted

Your wife died naturally, sadly, but naturally. Terri is not in a vegetative state and there are signs that she could be helped and wants help. I have no problem with a death that's natural and imminent. People must die at some time but not starving to death. That's inhuman. Would you starve your dog to death? No. You wouldn't. This is not an easy case to decide. I've already signed a do not resuscitate on my 'will' if I'm already close to death. People need to have a living will. Perhaps this will encourage folks to do that, no matter what their age.

Sir,

You are shoveling s**t against the tide here. It's artificial to feed her for FIFTEEN YEARS with a tube but the emotional jury here will never see that.

However, if THEY were getting the medical bill for her storage, vice everyone who has insurance, who foots the bill for the insurance settlement since it is spread-loaded around the industry, they'd be pulling that tube ASAP.

His wife? How many wives is Micheal permitted to have? Michael needs to 'get over it', unless of course, he has something to hide!

He's got TWO children by another woman, whom he's been living with, common-law for years!

He was trying to get a divorce at the time of Terri's initial 'collapse' and the only reason he hasn't gone ahead, is to continue control over her situation.

She was able to swallow, until her husband insisted she not be fed by mouth but by feeding tube. Strangely, this was about the time Florida law changed the definition of special measures to by adding the use of feeding tubes. Coincidence?

If you had an old and dying dog, would you kill it by denying it water and food? I don't think you are such a monster.

People need to have a living will.

Excellent advice. As to the other information, the Independent Docs have said that she is a veg. Period. As stated in another post, the ONLY ones on the side of the parents are the ones with a dog in the fight.

True...my bad. And, I totally am with you on your initial post. Watched my mom "pull the plug" on my father; watched my father-in-law do same to my mother-in-law. Hope my wife loves me enough to do it to me if need be. You are, in my heart of hearts, more of a hero than you'll ever know.

Right on all counts! For those who are still uninformed, make plans with your loved ones ahead of time, obtain a "DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY, MEDICAL" outlining your wishes, Signed, witnessed, notarized AND recorded. Give a copy to your doctor and a copy to the hospital. This powerful document will ensure that those persons named in the document will have the final say so as to your treatment. The names (usually family members) will be listed in order of priority, if one dies or is otherwise unavailable it moves to the next and so on. I am not an attorney, so do your own research. I am a survivor, my wife passed away last year, peacefully, surrounded by family. She was in a terminal condition. She was not in pain and she was not dehydrated because we made sure that this treatment was specified in the document and at least one family member was with her 24/7 to ensure that it was carried out. We were blessed with a wonderful doctor and a wonderful hospital staff. Terri's situation is more heartrending because no one can say that her condition is terminal. My thoughts and prayers are with her family - all of them!

LOL!

Once again, if you have done your research, you'll note that Florida DOES NOT recognize a common-law marriage. THUS, Mikey is STILL married to Terri.

Now, put yourself in his place. You are in your 20's and you wife goes veg on you. Would YOU stay celibate for the rest of YOUR life?

If you answer yes, I would say, BULL SQUEEZE! We're only human and widows and widowers date and remarry. Why? Because we are social animals and NEED a mate. Not to mention this thing called procreation of the species.

All inaccurate.

(1) He didn't run off with another woman. He moved on after six or seven years. Why fault him for that? Wouldn't you do the same? In fact, my in-laws were especially vexed by the fact I met a woman seven months after my wife died and married her slightly over a year after my late wife's passing.

I lasted a year before moving on; he lasted more than six years - are you claiming neither one of us have the right to find happiness and completeness?

(2) Pockets his wife's money? How exactly can any of the awards be considered his wife's money? Did she work for it? Did she inherit it? No, it was awarded to HER GUARDIAN to take care of her. And who exactly is this guardian? Whose name was on the checks? Michael Schiavo! Did he use the money to take care of her? He most certainly did. Are guardians allowed to use part of the proceeds for their own personal needs? Of course. Otherwise a disparity exists between hardship for the guardian while care for the patient.

(3) No he couldn't. If he turned over custody to her parents; he has abandoned his responsibility as a husband as surely as a father who does the same to his children.

I find nothing wrong with how Michael has behaved and apparently, neither do the courts - he won all 11 times.

The nurses who have cared for her in the past have stated that the tube is for convenience only. She is able to swallow reflexively, so she could swallow liquified food. It just would take some time to feed her, time that most hospices/hospitals lack.

Note that not one independent medical or court-appointed observer agrees with you which is why Michael has won all 11 or so court cases.

This link [ http://www.mensnewsdaily.com/archive/m-n/manion/2005/manion1032005.htm ] was posted for you earlier in the thread. You really should read these links. They will give you information you don't seem to have.

Dr. William Hammesfahr, a neurologist of world renown, examined Terri in 2002 and wrote a comprehensive report on her condition Complete Report of Dr. William Hammesfahr. Among Dr. Hammesfahr's conclusions were:

1. That Terri's heart, EKG's and blood chemistry showed no evidence of a heart attack;

2. A low potassium level would have caused damage to her heart

2. Terri is not in a coma;

3. Terri's neck was rigid indicating unusual trauma to the neck.

With respect to rigidity in the neck, Dr. Hammesfahr noted that he had viewed the same type of injury once before - in a strangulation victim. He also noted that the L-1 injury to Terri's spine was consistent with injuries sustained as a result of being thrown against a table.

Dr. Michael Baden, a world renowned pathologist, has also weighed in with serious concerns about the cause of Terri Schiavo's condition. Dr. Baden had the opportunity to review a bone scan performed on Terri in 1991. Based on his observations, Dr. Baden noted that:

1. It is extremely unlikely that a low potassium level would cause a healthy young woman's heart to start beating. Again, Dr. Hammesfahr ruled out the occurrence of a heart attack;

2. Terri had sustained a serious head injury, the type and degree of which could cause a vegetative state;

3. Terri also suffered from other bone injuries;

4. The type of head injury that Terri sustained was the result of a severe trauma, such as an automobile accident or a beating.

As Dr. Hammesfahr observed, Terri is able to swallow. In fact, one of her caregiver's has sworn under oath that she fed Terri on several occasions.

Removing a feeding tube is one thing; not attempting to give Terri food or water when she is capable of ingesting both without the aid of a feeding tube is quite another.

"That is the difference between murder and letting nature take its course."

There is a difference between a chronic disease and dying. You may have finished the job for your wife, and if that was what she wanted so be it.
Are you ready to euthanize chronic patients?- ALs, Alzheimer's, global cva, traumatic brain injuries, cp,etc?
many are in the same situation as Terri. If she had a living will there would be no issue, but she didn't. Her husband has been shown to be a sh-t-yes some allegations are not proven some are, and he wants her cremated immediately- sounds like an episode from QUINCY.
DO YOU WANT TO WASTE HER ANYWAY?

Ed, I agree. You are a hero.
