The bill provides for essentially a completely new case because it provides for the presentation of the evidence all over and does not allow for the state court case to interfere or even be considered in relationship to the new case.

It doesn't strip him of guadianship, any more than having the case go before Judge Greer to start with stripped the husband of his guardianship. All this bill does is give the federal court appellate jurisdiction over the decision of a state court.

It is more about whether her rights have been violated.

Am I the only one uncomfortable with the idea of a law written for one person?

Probably not, but it's not unusual for Congress to pass "private member" bills dealing with specific individuals.

The Talmud says he who saves one person saves the whole world.

Thank you for reminding me of this. It is so beautiful. In a brochure for an international child assistance group we have adopted children through, this is written in the back. I always loved it, but had forgotten about it until now.

Hey Genius, the USSC denied the case without comment. You must be making your fact up.

That denial was in regard to the congressional subpoena. You're entitled to your own opinon, but we all must share the same facts. Learn them and perhaps they'll be your friends.

Congress specifically changed court jurisdiction on the Alaskan Oil Pipeline.....that case and that case only.

It was constitutional. So is this. Congress has the authority to determine court jurisdiction on anything it chooses.

"What we really need is a bill that makes it illegal for people to declare that they want doctors to "pull the plug" if they get in an accident."

We can do that later. Right now our focus, energies and wherewithal should be on saving our sister Terri.

in fact, why is it that court rulings on u.s. policy can be legislated based on one person is a better question to ask. NARAL, the ACLU , and PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY use one person to move their agendas through the courts to have their legislations passed all the time. Godforbid we pass legislation through the legislature....the horror!

Um. No. They're out of the loop. This is strictly a Federal Case now. But Greer needs to be arrested for contempt of Congress. I hope they find him in Contempt.

Are you kidding? Michael Shiavo said that? Told President Bush to come on down?

The more I hear about that man the worse he sounds. What a piece of work he is. I wouldn't want him in charge of looking after a piece of grass in my yard and certainly not a human being.

In this case I understand the pressing need for speeds sake, but it seems the antithesis of "equal protection under the law"

In this instance, it is Terri who needs "equal protection under the law. Right now, she has none.
