You said: "But what about Jeb Bush giving Terri protective custody until the DCF investigates?
FAX HIM. I have. He and big brother W are just sitting there doing nothing. It's unconscionable."

It IS the question of the hour!

Most do not realize that the president could write an executive order, but he is not.

What is more important? How the media slants a fully constitutional action by the president - or Terri???

It is extremely out of place. She's not a politician, she works for a church. It's more evidence of a biased media working to enact this judicially legislated euthanasia.

"How rediculous, now it seems we have some shady doctors in this story as well. So what doctor's think Terri needs to die HUH? Crazy people, foolish people!"

Oh yes, Dr. Cranford will say anything about anyone, but I thought he would not be so bold as to make such a bizarre statemnt on tv.

Here's a piece circulating on the internet about him:

But the star medical witness for Michael Schiavo, Dr. Ronald Cranford of the University of Minnesota, has repeatedly dismissed calls for MRI testing, and his opinion has prevailed.

Dr. Cranford was the principal medical witness brought in by Schiavo and Felos to support their position that Terri was PVS.

But before that, one needs to know a little about Cranford’s background and perspective: Dr. Ronald Cranford is one of the most outspoken advocates of the “right to die” movement and of physician-assisted suicide in the U.S. today.

In published articles, including a 1997 op-ed in the Minneapolis–St. Paul Star Tribune, he has advocated the starvation of Alzheimer’s patients.

In cases where other doctors don’t see it, Dr. Cranford seems to have a knack for finding PVS. Cranford also diagnosed Robert Wendland as PVS. He did so in spite of the fact that Wendland could pick up specifically colored pegs or blocks and hand them to a therapy assistant on request. He did so in spite of the fact that Wendland could operate and maneuver an ordinary wheelchair with his left hand and foot, and an electric wheelchair with a joystick, of the kind that many disabled persons (most famously Dr. Stephen Hawking) use. Dr. Cranford dismissed these abilities as meaningless. Fortunately for Wendland, the California supreme court was not persuaded by Cranford’s assessment.

It's a court order. Judge Greer is working for the EUTHANASIA crowd. He wouldn't change the order even if Michael asked him too.

They're playing games. Don't buy in to it. This is meant as a cover for Schiavo. There are 2 "reasons" they could stop. The supoenas or Congress order. DeLay just said Congress passed an order to restore the tube and have a new trial. Greer wouldn't listen but the DCA court would. Felos lies about everything!

"Where, as here, death is imminent, it is hard to imagine more critical and exigent circumstances," Gibbs said in the appeal, filed electronically with the court. "Terri is fading quickly and her parents reasonably fear that her death is imminent."

This should motivate us to do all we can.

You took the comment out of context, gs. A poster was rejoicing that Justice Rehnquist went back to work at the Supreme Court today, thinking that he might turn the tide for Terri if the case went there. I reminded them that Rehnquist votes with the minority on the Supreme Court most of the time. And A minority will not win a court vote on Terri's law or get her hydrated again. That's all I said. I am aware of how influential even a small group of stalwart activists can be for a cause. My comment was very narrowly directed to votes on the SCOTUS.

Thank you all. You don't have to let me know in the thread you're praying for my mom. I know you will be praying because...that's what we do here. :) I don't want to take up any more space. This is Terri's thread. If you want to though, just FR mail me. We'll get back to Terri's business.

God bless you all. You are wonderful.

I just read that the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals will work through the night. They may not make a decision until tomorrow.

"NO one has said anything at our church about this except a few of us who huddle together at 'fellowship time' and shake our heads and wonder what we can do about it."

You ask: "What sort of church (denomination) do you attend?"

A conservative church, however, I've worked with ministers in many different churches and as hard as this is to stomach - many are afraid to speak out due to fear of losing pro-abortion members and also, fear of losing tax breaks from the government.

God bless the ministers who speak out in spite of losing members - they are unfortunately the minority in my experience.

I applaud the church minister of the church Greer once attended - for speaking out strongly. He did the right thing and reading his words brought tears to my eyes.

Let's face it: If even half the ministers in this country used their microphones every week to encourage parishioners to get out of their pews and involved - we would not have had 45 million abortions. This country could be transformed if the hearts of Christians turned in repentance towards God and stood up for what is right more often. Bottom line.

Editor's Desk: Terri Schiavo Needs a Miracle

By Michael F. Flach
Herald Editor
(From the issue of 3/24/05)

The fate of Terri Schiavo still hangs in the balance, despite last-minute intercessions by President George Bush and Congress. The president signed into law on March 21 a bill that allowed a Federal court judge to hear a claim on behalf of Schiavo for violation of her rights relating to the withholding of food, fluids and medical treatment necessary to sustain her life. But U.S. District Judge James Whittemore on March 22 rejected the request by Schiavo’s parents to reinsert their daughter’s feeding tube.

"Judge Whittemore has engaged in a gross abuse of judicial power," said Burke J. Balch of the National Right to Life Committee. "Unless higher courts issue a stay on appeal, an innocent young woman will be denied what every mass murderer convicted in state court gets — her day in federal court."

"In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life," Bush said. "This presumption is especially critical for those like Terri Schiavo who live at the mercy of others. I appreciate the bipartisan action by the Members of Congress to pass this bill. I will continue to stand on the side of those defending life for all Americans, including those with disabilities."

Pro-lifers stormed Congress with thousands of emails and telephone calls last week to express their support for legislation that eventually was approved by the House and Senate and signed into law by Bush.

"The last 48 hours represent a remarkable effort on the part of members of the U.S. Congress to protect the life of a disabled but otherwise healthy woman in Florida," said Carrie Gordon Earll, Focus on the Family’s senior analyst for bioethics. "Congressional leadership is willing to do what Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer is not: meet Terri Schiavo face-to-face and investigate her situation with their own eyes. Through its recent actions, Congress has displayed more courage and diligence than Judge Greer and deserves our praise.

Greer’s initial order removed Schiavo’s feeding tube on March 18. The result of Whittemore’s March 22 ruling means that Schiavo will continue to suffer a slow, agonizing death through starvation and dehydration.

"A conscious person would feel (dehydration) just as you or I would," said St. Louis neurologist William Burke. "They will go into seizures. Their skin cracks, their tongue cracks, their lips crack. They may have nosebleeds because of the drying of the mucous membranes. They feel the pangs of hunger and thirst. Imagine going one day without a glass of water. Death by dehydration takes 10 to 14 days. It is an extremely agonizing death."

"The suffering Terri will experience throughout the remainder of her days on earth is completely avoidable, as is the suffering that her parents and so many others who respect Terri as a human person will continue to undergo," said American Life League President Judie Brown.

Although the situation looks bleak, Brown said we should not give up hope. "Now more than ever, all people of faith — most notably Terri’s own Catholic Church — must offer prayers for her survival," she said. "If we allow Terri to die in this manner, it will mark the beginning of the acceptance of euthanasia throughout the country. Every human person deserves respect, from fertilization until natural death. Terri Schiavo is no exception. We must pray for a miracle to save her life." — M.F.F.

It has nothing to do with games. The Judge could stop it (but won't). Michael both won't stop it and can't.

Cranford would have done away with Ronald Reagan a long time ago...

Terri's plight has taught me a great deal about dealing with my loved ones. Even nursing homes scare me. May I never abandon them, Lord.

KEEP CONTACTING THE PRESIDENT!!! AND GOV. BUSH OF FLA!!!

The president can write an executive order to get Terri into a hospital immediately. It is not breaking any law to do so. The judge can still take time to ruminate over this case. This action would not interfere with the judge. And since Greer already flaunted a Congressional subpoena his ruling is highly questionable.

Executive orders are lawful. They've been written by presidents ever since Washington on a number of different issues.

Contacting the president and ask him to write an executive order immediately. If you cannot reach him, then contact your state senators and representatives.

"I'm not sure we can get it done here in Florida," Martinez quoted (Gov.) Bush as saying just after a new Schiavo measure stalled in the Florida Legislature. "Do whatever you can federally."

This is the Governor of Florida calling for help. Any notion that the Feds have no Constitutional business there is malarky.
