I believe we should be informed from all sides of the issue. Whether you support either party to have the facts is helpful when debating the issue.

I try to always be fair and listen and frankly in the end we may disagree but we do so based on an intellectual and respectful discussion. Which is what makes Free Republic great.

Jodi wasn't the first girl he started dating after the "accident". People seem to forget that. He dated another girl for a year and then stalked her for almost a year after that. All before he shacked up with Jodi only five years after Terri's unfortunate collapse.

No one in good conscience can forget the bone scan; the one he hid from her parents for 10 years and when they asked the judge for answers they were dismissed. No investigation. WHY??

The promises made before the trial and the immediate flip flop after he won the money.

The conflicts of interest between Greer,Felos,Jodi's family contributing to campaign funds, Her priest who won't support her despite his commission to by the pope.. yet the same people trying to end her life are contributing monitarily to his parish. None of which were mentioned nor explained in this article.

Can you honestly say you trust this guy beyond a shadow of a doubt? Cuz that would be what it would take to allow him to be the one to decide the fate of his wife. That kind of trust.

There is so much more. SOOO much more then even this. It is an abomination not to want answers to these questions. Good answers. Not from a corrupt judge who is legally blind so couldn't possibly have seen the videos of her. That bone scan is awfully hard to read...

Why aren't you asking why??

"It took them I don't know how long to get her breathing again. They stuck a ventilator down her throat." To little avail. "She was brain-dead," Scott Schiavo recalled.

All the family could do was wait until medications that kept her heart beating wore off. It took a day and a half, he said.

After the funeral, the family went to the Buck Hotel in Feasterville. Scott and Terri were sitting next to each other at a large table, where the conversation turned to how upset their grandmother would have been at her final hours.

Terri turned to him, Scott Schiavo said, "and she said, 'Not me, no way, I don't want that.' She says, 'If I'm ever like that, oh, don't let me. Pull that tube out of me.' " Scott Schiavo said he testified about the incident in 2000."

In the above conversation, the reference was to a VENTILATOR. Terri was referring to a VENTILATOR (If Scott Schiavo was even telling the truth). Feeding tubes were not an issue then nor were they an issue at the time of Terri's collapse. I don't see where Terri says she wanted to be STARVED to death.

Furthermore, this was a passing comment made during an emotional conversation about the death of an elderly Grandmother, rather than a rational decision made after considerable thought.

Around the same time Terri's friend stated that she was most upset about the fact that a VENTILATOR was going to be removed from Karen Quinlan, (though the feeding tube was permitted to remain and Miss Quinlan lived for ten more years). Yet, the friends remarks were discounted.

This is what ODIUS Judge GREER, the FOOL, based his decision upon. Absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!

Thanks for the Post. It was nice to hear his side. However the courts in this country continually deny guardianship for parents who do not seek medical treatment for religious reasons for children who are sick and under their care. I think this case is similar. As Bush said lets err on the side of life. (well spoken as always and no speech writer present)

I agree; both sides, but I would argue that it really doesn't matter what Michael has to say because:

1.Food does not equal health care--there is nothing heroic about feeding someone: she is not being kept alive by anything that I don't do for my children every single day. So if I stop feeding my infant and allow her to die is that okay? am I not responsible for her death?

2.Terri did not have anything in writing. We just changed our mortgage..took 10 signatures each and 4 pages to be notarized! Shouldn't legally killing someone take at least that amount of forethought? If it was that important to her then she should have put it in writing....not in writing--then tough.

3.She may not have wanted to live that way, but would she have wanted to die this way? Starving a dog to death is against the law in most states--why would it be acceptable to do to a human?

4.All of the right to die arguments are based on assumptions--they assume that the person (Terri in this case) is in misery, feels nothing, understands nothing, loathes this life,--insert argument here-- but how do they know?...what if they are wrong? Should we not err on the side of life?

5.This killing of people to put them out of their misery is a very slippery slope. I am sure that you have heard of Peter Singer...today he writes that we should be discussing the killing of spina bifida babies. Only very severe forms of spina bifida--what a guy that Singer is! /sarcasm
Eugenics is a very dangerous game and it is evil to the core. Dangerous because we should not be putting a dollar amount on human lives, we should not be valuing one life above another based on "potential" and we should not be subjectively judging the relative value of someone else's life (specifically someone who is not guilty of any crime).
Thanks for the post.

"He's already lost," he said. "He's already lost Terri."

LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!

And we know he feels bad about it because he cries on the shoulder of his new squeeze.

Sorry, he's got his reasons for killing Terri, but one thing is for sure, it has nothing to do with his love, honor, or respect for Terri.

He's nothing but a monster.

I bet that he tried to murder her by giving her poison and it didn't go like he planned. Another possibility is that they were arguing and he hit her and she collapsed.

What he gets from murdering her now is silence. If there is a slight chance that she could get better and talk he knows he would join his friend Scott Peterson

I posted an article on Free Republic supporting Michael and I received an incredible amount of hostile responses. Ironically, all the e-mails were supportive of my position.

The Admin Moderator then pulled my post and the entire thread claiming a flame war which is another irony since how can it be a war if I didn't respond to the insults?

I e-mailed the moderator asking permission to repost and was turned down. When I asked for an explanation why I'm prohibited and why the double standard since articles from genuine leftists like Michael Moore, Maureen Dowd and Teddy Kennedy are posted here everyday without being pulled; no response was given.

So now, I'm faced with a dilemna. If I repost the article I wrote, I may get banned from Free Republic despite the four years of consistent mostly conservative posting. What is my option? The other side deserves a chance to be heard.

"Wilma Mackay, a 65-year-old retiree from Palm Harbor, Fla., who watched her husband and brother die of cancer, sees a man who is "the epitome of loyalty.""

Loyalty? Shacked up with another woman with whom he has two children out of wedlock while trying to kill his wife? That's loyalty to Wilma?

She has an odd view of loyalty. Hell, this woman could make Scott Peterson look like a loving husband. Scott was loyal to his wife too.

"They say that, as a Catholic, she would choose life at all costs."

This is the key line. If she, as a Catholic, felt that she needed to define a personal difference with her faith by having a living will drawn up then this would not have been an issue. That she did not even after, supposively, discussing with Michael her desire never to be allowed to stay in a relatively incapacitated state, tells me all I need to know.

And that Michael wants her to be istantly cremated is another example of Michael violating her Catholic sisterhood.

Here's my article that was pulled by the Admin Moderators of Free Republic:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

LET TERRI DIE AND RETURN TO GOD

A huge outcry has been raised concerning the removal of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube. Why the emotion over a common medical practice of stopping artificial treatment when there is no hope of recovery?

Terri has been kept artificially alive for more than fifteen years despite being in a “persistent vegetative state.” What exactly does this mean?

"People in [this] state cannot think, speak or respond to commands and are not aware of their surroundings. They may have noncognitive functions and breathing and circulation may remain relatively intact." (National Institute of Health)

Terri is kept alive by having a feeding tube inserted into her stomach. She has no chance of recovery. If it wasn’t for modern medicine, she would've died within several days of her heart failure.

What exactly is the difference of her and those who are kept alive by ventilators but are also impossible to restore?

When my wife was dying from cervical cancer several years ago, I signed a "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" form. I didn't want to see the woman I loved, the mother of my three young sons, my mate of ten years and eternal companion, suffer more than she had. Seeing her go through three years of pain was more than I could bear.

When she slipped into a coma, we knew the end was near. When she stopped breathing, I was holding her hand, whispering "Go towards the light." And "I will love you forever."

Her sisters were frantic and wanted her to be resuscitated and kept alive for as long as possible on the machines. I put my foot down and said no and informed them I signed a "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" form. As a result, my wife was finally at rest and no longer suffering.

To this day my in-laws still harbor anger towards me and still haven't stopped grieving for my late wife.

Terri's family wants to believe she will recover. They are portraying her husband as being evil for wanting to put an end to the horrible spectacle of artificially keeping this poor woman alive in a permanent vegetative state.

When people are in a situation where it is impossible for them to recover, it is an obscenity to perpetuate life when the only decent thing is to let our loved one go. It is unfortunate cryonics is still considered an outlandish procedure. Those cases that hold hope of a future medical cure should just be cryogenically preserved. I know I would prefer to be cryogenically frozen if I was placed in a similar situation. Nanomedicine a century or two from now shouldn’t have any problem repairing cellular damage from the freezing process and revive those frozen, regardless of their illness.

We humans are designed to eventually DIE. Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die. How long must this poor woman be kept artificially alive before she is allowed to move on to the next life? Isn’t fifteen years enough?

Her doctors aren’t evil. Neither is her husband. He loves her and wants her to finally be at peace. Living as a vegetable is no way for humans to live.

It is helpful to examine the different situations where artificial treatment is given in cases of medical incapacity:

• Cessation of brain and heart and/or other organ activity
• Cessation of brain activity
• Cessation of cognitive brain activity
• Cessation of heart or other organ activity

Cessation of brain and heart

Must one continually perform CPR upon a person who has drowned? How long must it be performed before one discontinues artificial treatment and face facts the patient will never recover? What if the victim's parents insist CPR be continued non-stop for days on end? One has to face facts artificial treatment may only work within a very small window of opportunity in cases of brain-death and heart stoppage.

Cessation of brain activity

What about in cases of brain-death and the person is only kept alive by machines? If the patient’s brain has ceased to function and the patient is incapable of breathing on his own; the person’s chances of recovery are nonexistent.

Cessation of cognitive brain activity

People in permanent comas lose their cognitive ability. They are incapable of thinking, waking up or communicating. Most doctors agree if these patients haven’t recovered after a year; they will never recover. However, everyone has heard stories about people waking up from comas after 10 years, giving the faint hope that our loved one will also recover some day. However for every one that does recover, thousands don’t and most die a slow death.

Cessation of heart or other organ activity

Modern medicine has machines that can keep a person alive for quite some time if they lose the use of a certain organ, such as kidneys or heart. It isn’t a permanent solution though and the person will need their defective organ repaired or replaced.

Final thoughts

Terri Schiavo suffered permanent brain damage from heart failure. This damage was so severe that she is incapable of cognitive thought. Her brain still works to a limited extent - the involuntary systems such as her respiratory and circulatory systems are still functioning. But Terri, the person, the personality, is not longer there. It’s as if the portions of her brain that stored her person, her memories, her thoughts and her personality were removed. It’s as if her spirit is no longer in her body. The only thing her brain does is keep her physical body alive – it has become nothing more than a hospital respirator or heart-lung machine.

I know it’s heartbreaking for most to see her. She sleeps and awakes, her eyes open and she moves from side to side. But according to all the independent and court-appointed observers, some of whom spent several months by her side, her eyes don’t focus. There’s never been any hint she recognizes anyone or anything. She doesn’t respond to speech or touch. All the remains is involuntary and noncognitive. Those most familiar with her specific case such as medical doctors and courts have all agreed with this assessment. This is why her husband has won every single case against her parents. It isn’t a conspiracy; the facts are obvious when examined honestly.

Fifteen years is long enough. I know what her husband is going through. He wants his wife to rest and stop being the vegetable laying in bed. He was a faithful husband for many years and placed great demands on his time and those caring for Terri for at least eight years before recognizing the hopelessness and decided to end the horror. I don’t think I could’ve lasted that long with the constant pain of seeing my wife in such a condition. At least he had the sense to move on, find another and raise a family while her parents still cling to a miracle of recovery.

We need to face facts. Sometimes God’s answer is no regardless of how fervently we want otherwise. Let us all let her go so she may enjoy her rest with the Lord.

I agree, we should see all sides. I am sure he truly believes in what he is doing, but it doesn't make it the right thing to do. He is an adulterer and should expect for people to believe he has given up all legal rights to his wife. He should move on and allow her parents to do what he cannot.

His excuse-making doesn't square with his refusal to allow her even an attempt at rehabilitation. What makes the most sense is that he needs her dead to avoid going to jail for putting her in that condition.

The day after he received a $2.5 mil settlement - he stopped all rehab - and he never restarted it.

This guy wants her DEAD - not rehabilitated and able to speak. There has to be an explanation - and it's not because he's honoring his committment to her.
