US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

"For starters I really enjoy FR and have never not voted Republican, but I have to strongly disagree with what everyone seems to be saying here."

Hmmm... You sound suspiciously like a "seminar poster."

My goodness, if you are going to argue that a woman should be starved to death Nadler, at least have the decency to pronounce her name correctly.

What I keep coming back to are Barney's comments. That he admitted he doesn't know the Truth, so he wills she DIE!

I am furious, disgusted, and wish I could get my hands on them. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this in my life. Legislators arguing to kill her!

Wouldn't you want your fate, should you be unable to speak for yourself, to be determined by something more solid than hearsay which turns up 7 years after the fact, hearsay which had been initially contradicted by your spouse?

By the way she did not meet the Florida state law definition of PVS. The only similarity between this and what some doctors are claiming about her, is that the buzzword is spelled the same. The buzzword was good enough for Greer, who cares only about Florida law when he wants to.

Nadler comparing death by starvation/dehydration with a DNR. That's quite a stretch.

You just made me burst out laughing about Nadler -- I am sitting here trying to decided which RAT I detest the most -- there are so many!

Will got it wrong because it is not just the husband making a decision. It is the husband who has virtually and literally abandoned his wife to continue his life with a new family.

At common law a man who has started a new life with a woman and has a new family by any strech of the imagination has abandoned his wife. But for the fact FL has abandoned common law in 1974, we would be aruguing abandondment.

Sensenbrenner is HUMILIATING Nadler! ZAP! Is this a ZOT on the House floor?

This is the end of the Democratic party as we have known it. You really can't win elections if your primary principle is to kill your constituents.

%%%%%

Thanks for the laugh during this extremely serious debate! I know you are serious, and correct, but your remark just struck me funny as D for Despicible Jerrold Nadler just painted a picture of a subhuman Terri Sciavo while arguing for her death because she cant feel or do anything.

I don't know what happened to my last post. What I had said was that she is sentenced to die based on evidence that wouldn't be sufficient to convict her of a crime.

And "the incredibly brave husband" who thought it more important to show up for a gig on the King show than be with his wife as they pulled her tubes.

Digging deeper and deeper, the Dems are.

The agreed bill is just to ask federal court review; not legislate a single thing.

Sens is making my point.

The pubs are doing well!
