My point was that the SCOTUS refusal to hear the case had no bearing on the factual testimony, i.e., its decision was based purely on the presence or absence of errors of law, assuming all the facts before the trial court were properly found.

I'm proud of President Bush, DeLay and Sen. Frist for standing up for life. this law only affects Terri's situation. there will be time to look at the issue more broadly. I do think that it has to be reinforced in law that, where a patient did not make wishes known to a clear and convincing level (as Terri didn't) the presumption must be for life - i.e., NOT for starving the patient.

I suspect the Democrats will redouble their drive to bring down DeLay now. He's shown why they hate him - strong commitment to principle, and conservative social values.

Read the transcript stuff on the internet. Learned that MS was the first one to suggest she had bulimia. He found people who of course agreed that her symptoms COULD be related to bulimia although no one ever came forward to say they ever saw her throw up. Sad story about doctor misdiagnosis leading to patient's sad condition. Jury gives money to unfortunate patient. Michael is grateful, says he wants to be a nurse so he can tend to his beloved wife who he will spend the rest of his life with.
