Greer is, indeed, her GAL at present. He was written up as such in a puff piece called "The quiet judge" or some such piffery. In that same article, it turns out that Greer is responsible for another woman's death--he refused to issue an injunction on a menacing man in a woman's life, and she ended up murdered by him a few days later. Nice thing about being a judge is that you can't get sued for malpractice.

Don't know the FL law on Common Law Marriages, but if it's like most states, Michael & girlfriend are legal and have been for some time. Whether he's divorced or not.

Obviously not. But until he can be their mother's legal hubsand and their legal father, they're in a disadvantaged situation. So their interests, and Michael's, are in tension with Terri's interest. By definition, he shouldn't be a guardian for Terri, because a guardian shouldn't have a conflict of interest with the ward. That's a public issue - and it makes his situation, contrary to your claim, "our business."

I think the Husband is a POS, and I prayed that someone would give the parents guardianship (since the husband didn't seem to want the bother), but I have come to agree with you. I will probably never believe that this case was handled badly from the beginning, and I wished they could have tried rehabilitation, but I am so against what Congress is trying to do.

The worst laws, and precedents, are always made from knee jerk reactions to tragedy. Or from politicians pandering to their base. It happens on both sides. For any conservative to not be at least a little wary about what is happening today, shocks me. I do not want Terri to die, but I think she has been given "due process", and it's time to step back and look at the big picture.

To me this is no different than the pro choice side yelling and screaming that we can't have parental notification laws because there might be one parent out there that would harm their teenage daughter if they found out she was pregnant.

CAn you imagine? I can not. I can for the life of me imagine a person, a parent nonetheless judging another on their behavior as their child lying dying and they are barred entrance.

I am telling you that the Schindlers have been very respectful thus far. I swear if that were my child I would end up being arrested trying to get to him and hold him as he pass from me.

No matter what this case means to people or how they feel about the crux of the case. I would think we could all reach the conclusion that the parents MUST be suffering.

I have been pretty quite on these Terri threads for the past year or so. But no way will I watch those poor parents spat upon as their daughter is dying and they are not allowed to comfort her.

If Michael tried to strangle his wife, why did HER family wait 12 years to mention it? They waited until after Michael sued for malpractice, got into a fight about the money because the father thought he was entitled to some of it. He admitted it in COURT under oath. That's when the family stepped forward with these charges and it's unfortunate to see freepers buy into it.
