My mother felt compelled, a calling, to read about Palm Sunday in the Bible this morning. She found something that applies directly to today:
They wanted to KILL A MAN WHO ROSE FROM THE DEAD right around Palm Sunday!
What day is this? Palm Sunday!
The desire to kill Lazarus is here:
John 12
[9] Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. [10] But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; [11] Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
I believe that God has this all carefully planned. Each of us is judging whether Terri should starve to death. Some are hopeful that she might recover, perhaps even through a miracle. Others are skeptical. There's a connection here. God is speaking through the scriptures on this day.
Here are the Palm Sunday verses [same chapter]:
[12] On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, [13] Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Now for the other scripture she found. It is very profound when looked at with Terri in mind:
[Still in Chapter 12]
[42] Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
***
[43] For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
***
[44] Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. [45] And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. [46] I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. [47] And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
***
[48] He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
***
[49] For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. [50] And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
Also, I learned this morning that Mel Gibson called Terri's family and told them to pray. Somehow, I feel a connection to that. The Pope, Mel Gibson, and this. It all fits together.
As far as I'm concerned, God offered His 2 cents' worth. I believe that there is strong reason to believe she can recover if hope and caring wins over skepticism and neglect. A glimpse of God's Great Design is revealed here.
FReegards....
Good post. Her Mother just spoke on fox news.
If I heard correctly the Pres will speak today also.
I understood it the same way--and he will spend the night in DC tonight. I just pray that they can stop this atrocity in time.
"If I heard correctly the Pres will speak today also."
That reminds me of the scripture about 'the lamb on the Sabbath'. Terri is our lamb. Bush is working on Palm Sunday to rescue his lamb, just as Jesus said it's only natural for a shepherd to rescue a lamb on the Sabbath. And yesterday, I quoted from "The Silence of the Lambs" regarding Terri. FReegards....
[The pieces drift together.]
Why so much terror about puting her fate into God's hands?
Terri and 'The Silence of the Lambs' [sad vanity]

An odd coincidence? Considering the 'lamb on the Sabbath'. FReegards....
Last time I looked Michael Schiavo wasn't god.
On this issue, "...we are tricked into baring our souls..."
Cool Intellect: Debate Regarding Terri Schiavo
"...[they] don't realize that [they] are asking us to kill something inside us-- our soul."
Theresa is her real name, and her MOTHER is MARY
Well said!
Interesting.
I heard that "Theresa" means "little flower".
Savage says she was born into a Jewish family. And didn't she marry into the Catholic church?
I think your are stretching this a bit. Comparing Palm Sunday and or Mass readings.
People die every day.The world is very sad. I pray for them all and am sad for all of these cases.
But your pride in the fact that you and the media and the government are going to save a womans life, and you now to the point of applying it in the same context of Palm Sunday readings, is sad.
I see death in my profession and turning this heart wrenching decision into politics, is wrong.
I love our Beloved President and the whole Bush family. Things are happening, I am hungry, Imagine Terri? The lord is with her. The Pope is with her. I am with her.
And on PALM SUNDAY:
ORGEON'S DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMAN EARL BLUMENAUER VOWS TO KILL THE FEDERAL BILL TODAY

March 20, 2005
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. As Republican lawmakers scramble to pass legislation in an attempt to preserve the life of a brain-damaged woman, one Oregon congressman is doing all he can to stop the bill.
The emergency measure, which passed the Senate today, would allow Terri Schiavo's (SHY'-vohz) parents to take their case to a federal judge and take Schiavo's fate out of Florida courts. Judges there had ordered her feeding tube removed.
But Oregon's Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenauer says the measure is immoral because Schiavo made it clear to her husband that she would not want to live in a vegetative state.
He is organizing the opposition to the measure, which comes before the House on Sunday afternoon. One-third of the members present need to vote "No" to ensure that the feeding tube is not put back in.

Makes you think, wow
...."because it's in our constitution, to protect the rights of an individual..." Tom Delay, press conference, 3-19-05

Ah, I see, so if I should see someone dying, instead of giving CPR, maybe I should just declare that the person is "in God's hands" and continue on my way?
Fits right with John 12:
[10] But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
[11] Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
This is not about pride, and any fool could see that. This is about compassion. My prayers continue for this woman, who has done nothing to deserve this kind of torture. Moreover, if this effort to kill her is successful, disabled spouses everywhere are in danger of suffering the same fate. Michael Schiavo will have cleared the way.
