Just heard on Fox that U.S. Senate will convene today in emergency session regarding Terri Schiavo.
Is anyone else getting SOUND from C-Span??? I can see them, but no sound. Yes....the speaker's are on.
Nothing like her setranged husband living large.
You're left with a woman who suffered a heart attack 15 years ago, who essentially died but was resuscitated, though not entirely. Her brain had suffered enormous damage from the heart attack. As time passed, her brain further deteriorated -- to the point where much if not most of her cerebral cortex (the portion of the brain that controls conscious thought, among other things) was literally gone, replaced by spinal fluid. Doctors hired by Terri's husband say the deterioration of Terri's brain left her without thoughts or feelings, that the damage is irreversible, and that Terri's life-like appearance is merely the result of brain stem activity -- basically involuntary reflexes we all have. An independent doctor hired by the court reached the same conclusions. Doctors hired by Terri's parents did not dispute the physical damage done to Terri, but they claim there are new therapies that could improve her condition. In two separate trials, the trial court found such claims of potential improvement to be without merit. Terri's body continues to function without her cerebral cortex. She is sustained by a feeding tube surgically inserted into her stomach. She cannot eat through her mouth without a strong likelihood of choking to death.
Stupid is as stupid does--any M. Schiavo is stupid---he is having an adulterous affair and having kids out of wedlock, but tries to portray himself as the injured party--
And don't you dare call pbrown's comment stupid--Munchausen syndrome is very real, and could be a possibility, I can't think of a logical reason for him not to divorce Terri--marry his concubine and let Terri's family take care of him ---unless he craves the attention that this gives him which would be a symptom of Munchausens as would actully hurting Terri to put her in this condition---which her parents think is a possibility
Well, what I mean is that Terri is an innocent person.
It was Michael's choice to walk in his own shoes all these years. Even if it's true that Terri said she would never want to be fed by a tube, he could have let her parents take over her care and walked away, knowing he did his best for her. I find it hard to imagine that Terri would want her family to go through so much misery.
Some find an anchor of sorts sometimes in fable. Many avenues are being searched for the best answer to this problem. We probably won't get much good results by demoninzing MS anyway, it's just a fleeting thought.
One thing to consider: who is least likey to be acting in "self-interest" in this case, MS ($, fiance, nice house, etc) or Terri's parents (who have offered to take over the expense of care)?
There's sound on TV, at least; I don't know about the internet feed. Right now it's just classical music, so you're not missing anything yet.

I would agree with this - (however the State in no way could charge Schiavo therefore we are at where we are at).
As for Dr. K - I grew up in MI and lived through that all situation (and he definitely went off the deep end) - Though ALS is a terrible disease (and mainly who Dr. K was treating) - My Uncle-in-law just died last year from ALS.
George Bush said it best. This is a classic case where both sides believe they are right. In that case WE as a SOCIETY should ERR on the side of LIFE!!!

Where are Michael's parents?, I hear of the lady he's with now, but not much of "his" family? Just Curiosity....

they have been parked under some other woman's bed enough to make 2 children, which IMHO disqualifies him to be a husband and GOD over her life!

You should be able to prove that lickety split when you make such a contention. Stop claiming that NRO's report is lies unless you can prove it. You're saying I'm promulgating lies, the burden of proof is on you! And if you do substantiate your claims, I'll be perfectly willing to admit my source was wrong, that I was wrong.
