The same way the FL SC judges were removed after the 2000 election embarasment to FL? They were so confident of their merrit retention that they did not even bother to mount a substantive campaign.

Actually with all the protesters, there should be petitions circulated for a recall to all those protesters.

I have visited that web site, Hildy. Thanks for the ping.

Without stating my opinion about this matter, what is unfortunate to see is how many opinions are being offered by people who haven't paid attention to some of the nitty gritty facts.

I've seen freepers espouse that Michael is after the insurance money. And yet according to court papers, Michael formally offered to divest himself entirely of his financial interests in the guardianship estate.

Freepers have said that Terri has not been seen by a neurologist. That's patently untrue.

It's been stated she did not have a CAT scan. That's patently untrue. She's had dozens.

It's been stated that Michael refused to let a priest visit her. That's patently untrue. Some of them have given interviews after their visit with Terri and just yesterday she was given last rites.

Terri's sister stated on CNN last night that they don't even know if Terri had a heart attack. Court documentation by numerous doctors provides evidence that Terri did have a heart attack. Her sister denied that Terri had bulimia but that is the very basis under which Michael won a malpractice suit.

Court testimony provided by members of the Schindler family included very personal statements about their desire and intention to ensure that Theresa remain alive . . . at any and all costs. Nearly gruesome examples were given, eliciting agreement by family members that in the event Theresa should contract diabetes and subsequent gangrene in each of her limbs, they would agree to amputate each limb and would then, were she to be diagnosed with heart disease, perform open-heart surgery. Within the testimony, as part of the hypothetical presented, Schindler family members stated that even if Theresa had told them of her intention to have artificial nutrition withdrawn, they would not do it.

This is a deplorable situation that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. And it's been upsetting to see absolute lies stated as fact, over and over again on FR. If any good can come of this, it is that people will think more carefully about signing Living Wills and making their intentions clear.

>"They are only PRACTICING medicine."<

Yup, good point. Since they are only "practicing", it means they haven't yet achieved perfection, eh?

Thanks for that info. I was wondering/concerned about those who don't have a living will having to be made to have an attorney get involved if all agreed that they would not want life support to be continued. Like both my husband and myself.

Yes, that would be correct. If there is agreement there is no need to take it to court in the first place.

Just be darn sure you know how your state defines "life support." In Florida it is defined as "food and water" as well. And also, you may want to discuss scenarios rather than saying "Nope don't want do be on a ventilator at any time" My father had a surgery for intestinal blockage and was on a ventilator for 1 1/2 weeks due to his blood pressure not being stable among other things.

Try to avoid ad hominem and the Alinsky methods of argument because they avoid the issues.

He's entitled to his opinion. What are his pro-life credentials generally speaking?

When I saw your question, a mental picture of him came to my mind of them sitting on the edge of a bed, with his arm around the shoulder of his girlfriend, frothing at the mouth with venom over Terri being helped again.

How that must gall him that he can't even murder his wife with state sanctioned approval.

Exactly. I would be much more willing to consider the husband's claims Terri would want to die if there was even the slightest evidence he loves her.

But, there no evidence he has the slightest feeling for her.

He wants his money and to marry his new squeeze.

And isn't it amazing to watch people defend this on the grounds that his wife isn't really alive, implying the marriage contract loses it's teeth based on her incapacited condition rendering his co-habitation and child producing justified, but then turn around and argue for her death based on the viability and sacrosanct nature of the marriage contract?

Good point! Worth a repeat post.

How ironic that the fat one left one woman to die in the water and now he wants to condemn another to death from dehydration. Maybe in his Chivas-soaked mind this equals things out.

With this quote - I personally wouldn't trust King farther than I could throw him

"Argenziano, a Catholic from Dunnellon, and Sen. Jim King, a former Senate president who led the GOP bloc against Webster's bill, were among those demonized by abortion opponents such as the National Right to Life Committee, who hurled electronic epithets such as "Murderer!" and threatened that they would "burn in Hell."

"It's completely un-Republican," said Argenziano, who has a copy of former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman's book, It's My Party, Too, on her desk.

She blames the Christian conservative "machine" for "imposing their will on everybody else. ... There's no room for anybody that doesn't agree with them."

Oh, Hildy, people here are not so easily fooled and know better ... there is ample evidence that she is not a "vegetable" and a body laying there without feelings displaying involuntary actions.

Come on ... knock this nonsense off!

Where are all the noisy Democrats who recently took to the Senate floor blathering about saving the lives of carribou in Alaska??

Alaskan Caribou are sacred icons to the libs, while Terri Shiavo is merely an annoyance to her husband.

And furthermore, being innocent of any crime she's suitable as a sacrificial lamb for the altar of the death cultists who seem to dominate the FL bench. Maybe the abortion temples haven't been meeting their quota for sacrificial lambs recently, so somebody has to make up the slack you know. How else is a devout death cultist gonna practice his religion?

It's been stated she did not have a CAT scan.

Who said that? Of course she's had CT scans, which are useless in this case. She needs an MRI or PET.

By the way, I've read your posts today from Steve King and just wanted to thank you for taking the time to do that. It was reassuring to know they were working on it.

Voice vote or no voice vote, thank goodness they're getting the job done!

Really now Peach, to say that this is patently untrue could be a bit of misinformation upon your own part, considering that I corrected what I said.

Primary colors do seem to be in full exhibit.
