How would all this apply to the thousands of others out there in a similar situation to Terri? Particular those with living wills? This bill WOULD NOT affect anyone with a living will. It would only apply to those who have NO written directives. Even then it would ONLY apply if there is a disagreement that is taken to court to settle.
This bill is merely another safeguard to allow for federal review when all state appeals are exhausted. This is a right any condemmed criminal is allowed.

When the Supreme Court "passed" the law that no one under 18 can be put to death, it sure became retroactive. It sure did! Great point.

Promises, promises. Hurry it up guys. How many meals have you had since Terri's last meal? How many glasses of water or other liquids?
Thanks for the news, Grandma.

I believe that 2nd amendment mama is correct about that. He told the people that were caring for her to do nothing. I don't have time to look up the information, but read it in some of the documents that have been posted here. These nurses were appalled because they weren't allowed to do things for Terri that she needed, ie, put a washcloth in her hand to ease the curling of the muscle.

Yes I do.
The shorthand I've been using is "death cult."
I'm sure there are exceptions, but the pattern is obvious.

If she was Subpoened by Congress...doesnt that mean that they cant let her die??
As I understand the protections afforded to federal witnesses who are under subpoena to testify before Congress, Terri Schiavo's life MUST be preserved until such time that her subpoena is either fulfilled or quashed.
Or is this legally technically not killing her, just "Removing the feeding tube"
Precisely. TECHNICALLY, removing the feeding tube is not an act of murder. But it IS depriving her of the hydration and nourishment needed to preserve her life. If a doctor examining Terri should make the determination that in the absence of a swallow reflex, that she is unable to take in nourishment on her own, he technically COULD issue an order to reinsert the tube, based on his own Hypocratic oath to 'do no harm', and dare Greer and Michael Shiavo to find him (the doctor) in contempt. THAT would set up the sort of legal challenge that neither Greer or Michael Shiavo would want.
Oh yeah thats another thing...CNN and MSNBC are using "Removing the feeding tube" -- Fox has gone with the more appropriate "Killing"
While FOX is (in a technical sense) not being accurate by using the word "Killing", it IS more appropriate because that is exactly what this depraved court order from Herr Greer 'The Executioner' will result in.

As will we all.
I don't really wish hell on anyone.
I do sometimes pray that when folks have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that they are hell-bent to go their by tenaciously persistent and long term evil doings . . .
that they go there sooner than later to avoid racking up greater punishment and to avoid inflicting themselves on the rest of us.

Where are the bleeding heart liberal Democrats, indeed. Yes, indeedy, where? In the same place they are while innocent babies are being murdered on a daily basis - MISSING! It totally disgusts me that they value a caribo's life more than human life! They learned from their marxist/communist/socialist masters very well.

"That fat puke Kennedy can go to hell."
God forgive me, but I cannot stand Ted Kennedy. Of all the nerve. Considering his track record, ie: Mary Jo Kapechne, his lovely ex-wife Joan (bless her heart a very bad alcoholic); and God knows who else...he can twist his lips to utter such? Yall pray for me that I get the courage to forgive him.
Peace.

Sigh. Again, this bill is designed to protect people without living wills from having someone else's wishes imposed on them. If you have a written directive, it doesn't apply to you.

Congress should be in an emergency session and they should subpoena the jagoff judge that is so psycho to kill Terri. It's a damn disgrace that he has ordered her to be starved. I'd get jail time for treating my livestock like that.
