The original article posted says nothing about a known drinking problem or threats against any of them.

All it talked about was a child support dispute. That doesn't automatically mean violence.

Maybe you read that information on another thread. I see that something else has been posted here, but I haven't read it. I left the thread after I posted to you.

IF it is true that he had threatened them, then I agree that a teenage babysitter isn't the best choice.

But I can't fault the mother simply because she had a babysitter. Heck the guy had a gun. He broke down the door.

Even if mom had been home this guy could still have taken the baby. He probably would have killed her to get the baby.

That sort of thing is becoming quite the norm in Florida, I gather

The News reported 6 sharks were swimming off the coast of Florida near a resort area. I thought, "Florida - they're in the News a lot lately. Hmmmmm?"

He asked the girl whether she had called police; she told him no

"No" . . .?

I would have first called the police and then likely shot him when he came through the door.

"For Terri, it was SSDD for the rest of her existence."

Unless I replying to God Almighty, you cannot know this and it not for us to decide this.

If we are to err, we should always err on the side of life.

Sharks off Florida beaches are a daily occurance, this is nothing new. Where I live, sharks patrol 200 - 300 yards offshore every single day. They are everywhere. But only very rarely do they come in closer than that because there is plenty of food out where they are.

Where people get in trouble is doing stupid things like chumming the beach after dark while shark fishing. That has been banned now put people still do it in more remote stretches of beach.

In 1979 my father suffered a stroke on the heart lung machine during his second heart bypass operation. It was a terrible thing to happen but it did, sh*t happens. It was his time. He wound up in the same state that Terri is now. He spent the next 4 months as a veritable zombie, unable to feed himself, unable to void by himself, unable to do anything for himself but basically stare into space. It sucked.

My Mom realized the futility of this and asked for his feeding tube to be removed. He slipped away peacefully about 2 weeks later. I have lived through this fu**king nightmare personally. Anyone that thinks that Terri is magically going to get better and one day just wake up and get out of bed is a fool. She is not, and all her physicians agree. Terri will be much better off in a week or two when she too slips away. And so will her family. It was tough as hell on us but eventually you come to grips with the fact that it was the right thing to do.

If your husband, or the baby's dad is around you can get out alone leaving the baby with dad. She was apparantly raising the child alone and needed a babysitter to get out alone to shop.

I always tried not to take kids out with me, shopping was much faster & easier. I don't see that she did ANYTHING wrong as far as that goes.

Whatever the nature of the relationship between this woman & the married dad, she was apparently right to deny him access; he was a nutcase. Child support would still be the child's right & dad obligation.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm confused why this was News worthy.

Go ahead, master, draw me a picture. And while you are at it include others that you deem unworthy of life.

And just where in any of my posts did I say she was unworthy, "master"?

Maybe if you had lived through a similar circumstance you would have a different perspective. If you have not you then you are just intellectualizing.

I have worked ICU's. I have SEEN miracles. I used to believe strongly in favor of "mercy killing" (One hell of an oxymoron if there even was one.)

Events I can only describe as the hand of GOD have taken away a very dark veil from my eyes.

Much as I hate to hear of the loss of your father, how do you know he passed peacefully? How do we presume to know what someone is thinking/felling especially while in such a state.

If it had not been 15 years I might agree with you, but after this much time I think the chances are slim to none.

Probably the worst story ever to come from Kentucky and be posted on Freerepublic. My hometown, no less.

In Florida, it's state sanctioned.

..actually, its nation-wide...by, The Democratic Party, the party really committed to (early, late-term, "inconvenient/elderly/disabled people" post-term) abortion people.

I like the response if I am risking being wrong I'd choose to err on the side of life. The woman's family is willing to take care of her, let them.
It seemed you were suggesting her future was unworthy of life. If you weren't, you weren't, seemed that way to me.
All even the partially impaired, dependant and those who are an inconvienance to others should be very afraid at this time in our history. They are at risk of being disposed of.
