My cable system used to carry a lot of sumo, but no more. There aren't too many of us sumo fans in the States. (I'm a sports nut, love just about everything, except soccer or futball or whatever they call it or spell it. I really miss watching cricket.)
I would really like to have watched the bashos (sp?) when Akebono was in his prime.

***heck, he almost looks skinny compared to his prime stomping days, must be the outfit. ;-)***
I wonder how much a custom-made Armani suit of that magnitude would cost. I could camp out in that thing!

" To most folks, it's just some big fellars in diapie-wraps bumping and grinding and grunting,, but there is an art and a regimen and hierarchy within the sport that has its roots going back a long way. "
There may be an art and a regimen ...but it is still bloody boring ...Can't imagine it catching on in Americay any time soon ... Around here all the old screwballs ( 80+ ) get together and watch it , inc. my mother-in-law . Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Thank you for those (L) & (R) aids. Without them we'd have not been able tell who was who. ;o)

Sally's looking a little skinny these days! He could use an extra bowl of chanko-nabe, or three.
