DeLay Pledges Contempt Charge for Terri Judge
NewsMax ^ | 3/18/05 | Limbacher

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay pledged Friday to hold Florida state judge George Greer in contempt of Congress for ignoring a congressional subpoena for Terri Schiavo's testimony, saying, "No little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress."

"The Congress will pursue this, if we have to hold him in contempt of Congress," DeLay told radio host Sean Hannity.

Pressed on whether he intended to hold Judge Greer in contempt, the top Republican told Hannity: "Absolutely, absolutely."

"We will do everything to enforce the power and authority of the Congress and no little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he added.

Earlier in the day Judge Greer rebuffed the Schiavo subpoena, telling attorneys in the case, "I have had no cogent reason why the [congressional] committee should intervene." He claimed that the last-minute action on the part of Congress does not nullify years of legal proceedings.

But DeLay told Hannity, "This judge and the Supreme Court of Florida are well known to be liberal judges that have a different worldview and they're imposing their worldview on the law."

The top House leader said that "no sane person" could look at Schiavo and say she's in a persistent vegetative state.

DeLay called a lawyer for Michael Schiavo, who has pressed for years to have his wife starved to death, "the personification of evil."

Post 913 is one of the most offensive smarmy hateful posts I have ever read on this forum.

I don't care what one's position is, this post is beyond decency. It really turned my stomach.

She sounded spot on to me.

Sorry Cajungirl, but I have no sympathy for people applauding and encouraging evil things like starving innocent people to death as SO9 is doing.

I personally hope SO9 rots in guilt; he is due a lot more than that on the otherside of that ole river, methinks.

Sorry. Dont mean to offend you.

Remember the night of the "accident" her best friend testified in a deposition, under oath, that she (Terri) was going to ask Michael for a divorce because of his complete control of her and his fooling around.

The friend wanted Terri to stay with her that night but Terri said "I can handle him".

Why did Judge Greer throw out this testimony?

Because it would get in the way of him killing Terri for the sake of assisting Soros in restructuring Americas 'Culture of Death'? Maybe?

Greer is an evil, conniving hypocrit and it is people like him that make me glad that God is Just.

In India it is a common belief that when you go to the hospital you are going to die.

It's the same in America anymore.

Quite possibly people delay their trips to the more formal parts of the hospital with those annoying stops in the Emergency Room because, ta-da, there are other folks around to watch what the doctors do to you.

Exactly.......and he only "recalled" that was what Terri wanted, after he collected his million dollar settlement.

He has a new life, with a new family and children. Why wouldn't he be willing to divorce her now?

It makes no sense....

It makes sense if Terri knows something that he wants to put in the grave and to keep it there -nothing else makes sense.

you haven't offended me. The poster did. Agreeing or disagreeing with the poster doesn't bother me as much as that post.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe your "story". You couldn't have posted the callous things you did on this thread if you had really gone through what you just described.

I still believe it's a typical troll tactic. You disrupt the thread, insult, etc. You posted some pretty nasty comments about Terri which I don't think anyone of us who care will forget. You said she should die.

Then as the thread is winding down, you come with your "real life story" to get sympathy?

A woman's life is on the line while you are playing your little games.

Can't imagine how you sleep at night after your antics.

SO9 is a liar who amuses himself by upsetting people with his trolling. He probably enjoys the thought that Terri will starve to death - there really are subhumans like him in the world.

But never forget that God is jsut and SO9 will answer for what he says as God forgets not one word or deed.

Terri, on the other hand, does not have a terminal illness that prevents her body from accepting food and hydration. So, to me, starvation and dehydration is a very cruel way for her life to end, and I don't see how anyone who claims to have ever loved her can watch her die that way.

God bless you. My Mom died of cancer, too, but at least nobody was trying to hurry up her demise. They tried to make her as comfortable as possible. My Mom was very stoic. I miss her.

I don't have enough compassion for her to want her saved when doing so is going to mean passing a hideous Federal Law that will hurt thousands of others every year. Not when she didn't give enough of a shit about her own life to have a Living Will.

SO9 you are too loathesome to argue with and I am going to put your quote on my web page. Thank you for illustrating so well the depths of moral and mental depravity that a person can sink to.

"With all that has happened today, I wonder if God will ever Bless America again....sometimes it seems we don't deserve it."

Even the "best" of us don't deserve anything better than death. God does not pour out blessings based on who earns them from Him. Remembering that is quite humbling.

Good cajungirl. You are among the more sensible people posting on this topic, and I was afraid my directness might lose your indulgence.

I hope you have a pleasant weekend in spite of all the horridness going on.

Remember that God has given us a wonderful life and the ability to fill it with the love and joy of our families.

God bless you.

It is also not true.

Read Deuteronomy chapter 27 and 28 sometime. God definately blesses those who practice righteousness and curses those who paractice evil.

The Word of God is such a wonderous thing.

"God definately blesses those who practice righteousness and curses those who paractice evil."

We do not earn God's gifts. If we did, they would be RIGHTS and not BLESSINGS.

"If refraining from certain types of unscrupulous maneuvers would mean liberals would likewise do so, then it would be virtuous to do so. But to allow liberals to exercise them without reprisal is to encourage them. The only effective deterrence in such cases is fear of retaliation."

If we define the use of a filibuster by a minority to put a break on the desires of a majority as an” unscrupulous maneuver”, we have to be prepared for the other side to do the same if it returns to power,

Historically in the US the filibuster has been a “conservative” political influence – it increase the power of the smaller, less densely populated and rural states to resist changes favored by larger, more densely populated, and more urban states, Which is to say, roughly, it increases the power of voters in “Red” states at the expense of “Blue” states.

Thus it appears to me that if history is any guide weakening the filibuster for short-term “tactical” advantage is a dangerous strategy longer term for conservatives favoring “smaller government” and “a greater role of the states”.

SO9 should be quite happy that Freepers are not inclined to make an example of him.

You'd better believe that back in his home at DU there are those who would deal roughly with him should he cross those Liberal lines in the sand.

They have the names and addresses of all their posters, and it's not far fetched to believe they'd track someone down and kill them.
