A mentally disabled woman whose court ordered starvation-execution began Friday attempted to contradict her estranged husband's claim that she wants to die hours before her feeding tube was disconnected, an eyewitness is claiming.
Barbara Weller, an attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, told reporters Friday afternoon that during her visit earlier in the day she told Ms. Schiavo:
"Terri, if you would just say, 'I want to live,' - all of this will be over."
According to pro-life activist Randall Terry, who recounted the scene to radio host Sean Hannity, Schiavo tried desperately to repeat Weller's words.
"'I waaaaannt . . .' Schiavo allegedly said, in a prolonged yell that had police stationed nearby running into her hospice room.
"She just started yelling, 'I waaaannt, I waaaannt,'" Terry said, according to Weller's account.
At that point police ejected Weller, he said.

If you've seen her photos that HAVE been in the paper of late, you will notice she is usually SMILING. (sometimes she frowns too, which implies she isn't just smiling for the hell of it)
I think she doesn't WANT to "rest in peace" just yet. Shes still young. She could use some therapy and get on with her life.

They're going to have to find a judge that says just that.
We shall see.

Ever heard of a living will? Many people don't want to be kept indefinately on life support when doctors say there is no chance of improvement. That is why hospitals ask for a Living Will document whenever you go in for major surgery to avoid this kind of catastrophe dragging out.

If this is indeed even true, what makes you think she was trying to say that she wanted to live? I wasn't there, Floratina, but I believe it. Jeb Bush believed it, when he had some authority in the case. He saved her life.

Thanks FReepers for helping me learn more about the issue. That is what we do - thanks for being curious enough to inform yourself. May your tribe increase!

"Schindler Family Attorney, David Gibbs" is on MSNBC, Hardball right now, and he is not making claims like this thread says. He's arguing that she's capable of being communicative, but definately not raving about this understandable utterance reported here.

Idon't "need to" hurl insults in this case, but they suit just fine. I agree. You don't know squat.
Get over yourself and listen for a while before you shoot your mouth off. You'll thank me if you do.

One thing's certain.. If this was Jessica Lunsford's confessed murderer asking to live, he'd have a better chance at it..

If thou forbear to deliver them... Sounds like your Scripture reference could be relevant, IF it was in 21st century English. But in that language, who can tell?
(No offense to you. Just the King James people)

She is not ON "life support" she is fed daily by a tube (think spoon instead) via her mouth!
If she were on life support, it wouldn't take "1-2 weeks" for her to die. She would die in minutes/hours.

OK here it is for you sensitive PC ears. With leadership comes accountabilty. Political leaders in America will not be able to escape that fact after Terri is dead.
Nuff said. Judge Greer isn't the elected leader of Florida or the United States.

No, he did not; and if it was true, you can bet he would have said it.

Does the attorney have this on tape? I doubt it, since audio, video, and film recording have all been forbidden. Wonder why anyone might want to forbid such things?

If the tube is not replaced and if we cannot come to terms legislatively and ethically with erring on the side of preserving life in all such cases as this, then it is far worse than just a dark day.
This will be marked as the day the soul of America joined forces with all the evil empires of history.
It may seem like hyperbolic overstatement, but the beginning of every end is often a short first step. The State determining who is worthy of life and consequently who they believe should be euthanized, is far more than a short step.

The fact is, even if she said "I waaaaant to live", those who want her dead would find a way to twist even that around. They would say things like "She doesn't know what she's saying". Their minds are already made up, evidence notwithstanding. IIRC that's what happened to Hugh Finn, among others.
