I'm a neurologist who has followed this case from time to time; it's been about a year since I looked into it though.

The neurologic question seems to be if she if a persistent vegetative state (PVS) or what is called a minimally conscious state (MCS). From the videos I've seen, she probably is MCS, but just barely. In her case it's hard to be sure without actually being there during the exam. However, I understand that the videos are a few years old and that her condition may have deteriorated since.

I believe she has been examined by court-appointed neurologists who claim that she is PVS. That may be the case if she is now worse than the videos suggest, or if the videos are misleading. Unfortunately, her parents have chosen to associate with a group of doctors who are, to be polite, out of the mainstream in their practices and I don't trust their evaluations.

The bigger issue to me is whether Michael is competent to act in her best interests. Much of what he has done in the intervening time suggests that he is not.

I think if anyone has dropped the ball here, it is the Florida legislature and governor. They have had plenty of time to pass laws addressing the issue of next-of-kin and what to do when a spouse or child may not be acting in the best interests of the patient.

There are more people there than you see on camera, I'm SURE. Floriduh voter, who is at the hospice, said that they have up orange construction fencing to keep people confined into ONE LITTLE STRIP in front of hospice. The rest of the people are out of camera down the street or across the street in a shopping area.

There are many many police and police dogs there. It is quite intimidating, as you can imagine. It has been Mr. Schindlers specific stated wish that no one resort to violence or breaking the law, as well. He is looking for prayers to be answered "within the system" -- but that system has betrayed him.

Dear Joanna -- Thanks so much for all your efforts for Terri -- please thank your friends and others there. This is a dreadful time in our US history, I had always wondered how good becomes evil and evil good -- and I've been seeing it in this sad case. Best to you there -- thanks so much for your prayers -- there are answers, little bright spots, and we pray for Terri's life to be spared.

They did and were repealed er.. 'over-ruled' by the courts.

I completely agree. It is totally sickening that this poor woman will be starved and dehydrated to death. However. I think our prayers make a difference.

At this point, all I can say is let "God's will be done."

It's hearsay evidence from the Schindler's/Terri's lawyer with no corroboration (where have I heard that before?).

Some cop heard it but has now recanted.

I heard that (I can finally get FOX in Toronto!) and just boiled.

I've followed this for more than a year; this is one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. This is wanton murder, and I guess we can only hope that by denying Congress Greer has stepped over the line and will lose jurisdiction. Some Congressional leaders may not be so pleased with having a county judge flip them the bird. At this point I can't see much else that would work, short of an order for the National Guard to remove Terri and take her to a proper care facility.

Sorry, but calex59 is right. Brain dead people can continue to have the minimum physical functions Terri does...these come from the brain STEM. she does have reflexes, but there has been 15 years of trials and appeals and medical assessments and those movements are not reproducible or "conscious" as we know conscious.
