Here is my answer. I would have used everything at my disposal 15 years ago. I would not have denied my mother physical therapy. I would not have denied my mother speech therapy. I would now, 15 years later, had an MRI and PET scan performed BEFORE I made any fatal decisions. All of these things have been denied to Terri!

How does anyone really know what Terri is capable of doing if no one has EVER been allowed to help her? Now, what say you?

That's the point. And, it results in an enormous transfer of wealth from private individuals (primarily Baby Boomers) to the government.

Except that in Terri's case it's a tiny power majority instead of a numerical one who has decided that Terri should die -- ie, Michael Schiavo, Felos, and Greer.

Yep. I don't want to digress too much, but that is the exact problem with Canada. It's only the popular vote, basically, and the majority party can pretty much do what it wants (nominate buddies to important positions and to the Senate).

At least in the U.S. we have things like the electoral college, Senate confirmations of judicial appointments, etc.

Obviously the system isn't perfect but believe me (and this is just my opinion based on experiencing the Canadian health care system first hand, and reading plenty of legal decisions here), if Terri lived in Canada she would have been dead a long time ago.

Actually Rep. Weldon was asked by Savage what can be done at this point. Savage said can people just go in there and prevent this?

Weldon said, well, yes they can [though he was not strong of voice at this]. But then he said the President can send in federal marshalls.

I was all for DNR orders when they first came out, I was young and naive.

I saw them terribly abused.

I had to chew out a young ICU nurse one time because she flippantly remarked "What are they doing in the unit, they want to die anyway"

DNR is supposed to mean nothing extraordinary but it is used to give shabby, neglectful and deficient, care all the time.

I won't allow anybody in my family to have one again.

Well, the reason I said that DeLay didn't seem motivated was I had just listened to him on Hugh Hewitt and then I listened to Rep Weldon on Savage and it was a stark contrast between the two men's passions.

Boxer, Widen, Nadler, Wexler, Levin, he mentions specifically. The Bible warns us about people like this.

The husband wants her cremated for a reason, Savage saying.

Talking about Col. Bo Gritz, and the arrest warrants. BG feels obligation to act while Terri is alive. Savage calling him an American hero.

Saying if Congress can't save her from this dirt-bag husband, the repubs do not deserve to stay in office.

Seeing it from her parents' religious perspective, that's double the pain there.
