Sundays' meeting is at 1pm.
I think I have figured out how all this has happened for so long.
It's the Scientology "Church" based in Clearwater. This "church" "owns" the FL Republican politicians in Pinellas and Pasco counties. It's like a "New Age" secular masonic lodge or cabal of some kind. Normally, I don't go in for conspiracies, but this must be part of a conspiracy.
Well, we will need 50, with Cheney breaking a tie.
I don't know. I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING. I am totally confused.
I hope you know you are not posting to the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to politics. :)
re:Why Greer is hiding in a hotel with bodyguards?
He heard what we all heard Tom Delay say--
""The Congress will pursue this, if we have to hold him in contempt of Congress," DeLay told radio host Sean Hannity.
Pressed on whether he intended to hold Judge Greer in contempt, the top Republican told Hannity: "Absolutely, absolutely."
"We will do everything to enforce the power and authority of the Congress and no little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he added.
Don't worry, and don't lose any sleep tonight over this.
An objection will only slow things down a bit.
At least one House member, Rep. Robert Wexler, R-Boca Raton, expressed outrage at the attempts by his colleagues to get involved in the case. Wexler said he intends to object to plans to pass the bill through the House by unanimous consent. If any member calls for a voice vote, the House must have at least 218 members present for a quorum. Therefore, Wexler's actions could force House leaders to hold on to the bill until after midnight.

I add my prayer and join my heart with you Kitty Mittens and all. I have been away from my computer but am praying so for Terri and for all of us to have strength to carry on right now.
I remember DeLay saying he'd wait to put it on the docket at 12:01 Sunday night/Monday if he had to.
I'd hazard a guess that this will be the first Palm Sunday in history that the United States Congress is in session.
" Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. For without case have they hid for me their net in a pit, which withour cause they have digged for my soul. Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let the net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O LORD, be not far from me. Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. In II Chronicles 7:14, God said, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.[ II Chronicles 7:14 ]

Wexler is Democrat. If there are not 218 members present, then there can be no vote, right?
No, I believe that it would just mean a delay, not a loss.
But at this time of night, I'm not prepared to do the research it might take to know for sure!
Trust, hope, and prayer.
That's the ticket at the moment.
Danka!
Terri Bump.
An earlier post said that only George W. Greer can order the tube reinstated. If this is true, all this is meaningless.
"You've had a long day,"(from BigSkyFreeper)
We all have. And a long weekend. And it ain't over yet.
Maybe it would help if every poster on all the Terri threads took a second to take a breath, and realize that everyone is stressed, tired, and has concerns one way or the other and has the right to discuss and debate those issues.
Although we all have strong convictions, and tempers have flared, it is not because any of us are "BAD", or "EVIL". It is because we are all human.
Terri's case has brought forth a SUITCASE full of issues, which bred 'factions' during our discussions.
We have:
The Judicial Court Issue
The Euthanasia Issue
The State Law Issue
The Federal Law Issue
The Hospice Staff Issue
The Roman Catholic Church Issue
The women's hygiene Issue
The Money Issue
The Medicare Scam Issue
The Right to Life Issue
The Right to Die Issue
The Right to decide for others issue
The Right to have no decision issue
The Right to be tortured Issue
The PVS/Coma/Braindead Issue
The hearsay/heresay/whosay/Isay Issue
The gastronomy tube/Life Support Issue
The Heart Attack/Cardiac Arrest Issue
The Diet/Bulimia Issue
Terri Schiavo-Schindler
Judge Greer
Michael Schiavo
George Felos
George Bush
Jeb Bush
Dr. Gambone/Hammersfahr/Wolfson/etc.
The Schiavo Family
The Schindlers
Rush Limbaugh (how'd he get in here?)
The Florida Attorney General
The Pope
Moose
Cheese
(Help, someone stop him.)
The biggest problem we have is we all think we are talking about the same thing, and yet poster A seems to be discussing ISSUE X , with poster B who is discussing ISSUE Y.
It's remarkable that posters heads don't explode after a while.
Probably. And if it doesn't pass tomorrow, they'll be there Monday too. Wonder if that's enough of an incentive?
"first Palm Sunday in history that the United States Congress is in session."
Congress, and indeed the entire nation is in session on this issue.
it cuts across politics. its more fundamental.
this just in from a thread on DU, for example, (yes, i had my flame suit, nose plugs and tin foil hat, of course)
"Seriously, why not bring her to the floor of the Congress and let everyone see just who they have been trying to starve to death. She is disabled, not vegetative. And if given the chance, guaranteed she WILL respond. You underestimate the will to live. She has been asked if she is happy to be alive, and she says yes. That's right, you haven't seen it in the few videos they show on tv, but let her come to the Congress, and then you'll see.
This husband should be criminally prosecuted for abuse. First, unlike what the media report, he likely caused her to be in this situation in the first place. Then, in the med malp case, he said he needed money for her aggressive therapy and care. As soon as he got the money, he asked for her to be put to death. Virtually none of the money was spent on Terri. She lies in her room and does not get ANY therapy or entertainment. Do you know how cruel that is? Her husband has systematically abused her. Someone in that situation needs as much interaction and support as possible. He knows this, and makes it worse. He has given the nurses orders to keep her in one room, never to go outdoors, has given them instructions to never change the radio or tv station from a single channel, and has forbidden her parents from seeing her on numerous occasions. The judge won't allow her to try taking food by mouth, (out of fear she'll actually eat and everyone will see what they've done to her all these years) and doesn't require the husband to provide plans for her care year after year, and yet says he's the best guardian for her. Do you understand, it's like keeping a child in a closet for ten years. They are very aware and tortured, and when they get out, they need intense therapy, which her husband has literally prohibited her from receiving.
This bill does nothing to individual or privacy rights. If you want to sign an advanced directive, you may. But where there is no advanced directive, and family members disagree, why not let her have her day in federal court before you allow her life to be taken, in an excruciating way. Don't let anyone kid you, starving to death IS painful, and she IS aware. She has never been declared brain dead by doctors on either side. They can't say that because the tests don't support it, so they say well, she has zero chance to recover, as though they know what the future holds in research. I am thrilled there are some democrats that came down on Terri's side."
and i am thrilled that someone registered on that board so totally gets it and is pushing the message
Good God! And they aren't banned? Haven't been labeled a Lousy Freeper Troll?
