RUSSIAN POLITOLOGISTS CALL ON EU AND NATO TO SUSPEND LATVIA'S MEMBERSHIP

MOSCOW, March 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russian politologists calls on the European Union and NATO to suspend Latvia's membership in these organizations until the Latvian authorities take measures to limit the growing political influence of Nazi supporters.

"Actions by the Latvian authorities in favour of rehabilitation of Nazism have become more intensive with the accession of Latvia to the EU and NATO", reads the joint statement by chairman of the National Civil Council for International Affairs Sergei Markov and chairman of its presidium and the Independent Organization Civil Society Sergei Abakumov. The statement has reached RIA Novosti.

"We call on the public of the EU countries, most of which has suffered from Nazism, to make their governments to bring pressure on the authorities of Latvia to prevent the revival of fascism, Nazism and other forms of radical nationalism. It has brought tremendous disasters to Europe and is again raising its head in Latvia and other countries of Europe", the statement reads.

Mr. Markov and Mr. Abakumov also invite deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to consider the actions of the Latvian authorities towards the rehabilitation of Nazism.

Simultaneously, the Russian politologists voice "support for the democratic forces of Latvia, above all the coalition For Human Rights in United Latvia, in their struggle against the supporters of Nazism and other forms of ultra-nationalism".

""We call on the public of the EU countries, most of which has suffered from Nazism, to make their governments to bring pressure on the authorities of Latvia to prevent the revival of fascism, Nazism and other forms of radical nationalism."

Hehehe. Russia worried about Latvia having radical nationalists. Sorta funny after reading Russian FReepers arguing that the Ukraine was really part of greater Russia and had no right to be an independent country.

"Sorry, but we are afraid you have nationalist tendencies, so we must invade you for the glory of Mother Russia."

It only seems to me for an attempt to create a buffer state with Latvia to avoid or decrease the length of sharing borders with NATO and EU as they have done with Poland in the past.

I've always wondered if the theme music from 'Taxi' was the Latvian national anthem...

I see politologists are the same everywhere: all bluster, no real substance.

A probe by Russian proctologists? No thank you!
We had a young secretary who thought cosmonauts were Russian hairdressers.

I also think that the Balts don’t have anything to celebrate, although parades of their SS Waffen isn’t a thing which I would like to see or even hear about. Other thing is that Russia isn’t a member of above mentioned organizations, should Latvia call on CIS to suspend Russian membership?

I saw some kind of wreath laying/memorial on the news the other night from Latvia- for the Latvian Waffen SS troops who fought in WWII (SS Pz.Gren Divs 15 and 19, "Letvia I" and "Letvia II")

Poor Russia, they get rid of Communists only to get Poltergeists.

Yup, having a parade for former SS members, how cute. To bad they killed all the jews the first time, otherwise they'd have more festivities. /sarcasm

That "civil society" guy surely has a nice surname - Abakumov. There was one Abakumov (in an exalted position of KGB head) in early 50's. The surname is not particularly common - might be a relative.

Finally, it might be dawning on some folks that the essence of national socialism is anticommunism - not antisemitism (antisemitism was a cancerous outgrowth promoted by some emotionally damaged idiots in the German gov't.). Anyway, anticommunism was the reason Germany invaded Russia.

Now, I am not going to defend all the awful things that happen. I am just suggesting that the reason why millions support Nazism was because Nazism promised to forcefully confront the menace of communism.

Astute.

Appoint her to the Peter Principle Institute, make her over and into occupying the office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

And later-on, promote her to secretary of state.

She's right!

...... isn't she ..... ?

Ahh, ok so by your logic, the best way to kill cancer is with TB?? National Socialism, try dissecting what those words mean.

Anti-semitism, anti-gypsy, anti-capitalism, anti-republicanism, anti-Christ (as well documented by the SS training manual: making Europe Christ free, why the leading Hitler Body Guard SS Division, on it's drive through France marked its passage with burnt down churches and shrines), New European Order is the foundation of the National Socialists and their brown/black shirts.

Abakumov was executed for his crimes during the Stalin years. (BTW, Abakumov is not that uncommon of a surname)

The beef is Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania allow these parades to happen, erect memorials to the SS guys, etc. There should be more countries in addition to Russia protesting this - ESPECIALLY in light of the FACT that they are members in NATO, an organization which was created to a.) counter the Soviet threat, and b.) keep an eye on Germany so that NAZIS could not rise again. Disgusting - I'm VERY disappointed in Latvia.....
