Starving for a Fair Diagnosis

Terri Schiavo lies in a Florida hospice, subject to a judge’s order that will cause her to die of starvation and dehydration commencing this Friday, March 18, at 1:00 P.M. Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, have fought for over a decade to prevent her death. They have repeatedly gone to court in their efforts to stop Terri’s husband, Michael, from removing the tube that provides her with food and water.

The court battle has gone largely against the Schindlers. Last week, Pinellas County Circuit Court judge George Greer issued a steady stream of rulings denying almost every motion the Schindlers raised. He denied some of them summarily, without hearing arguments or evidence. Among the motions Judge Greer denied was a request for new testing and examination of Terri by independent and qualified specialists. David Gibbs, attorney for the Schindlers, submitted 33 affidavits from doctors and other medical professionals contending that Terri’s condition should be reevaluated. About 15 of these affidavits are from board-certified neurologists. Some of these doctors also say that Terri could benefit from therapy. Judge Greer was unmoved.

Many people believe that Terri Schiavo has had the best of care, and that everything has been tried by way of rehabilitation. This belief is false. In fact, Terri has had no attempts at therapy or rehabilitation since 1992, and very little had been done up to that point. Terri has not even had the physical therapy most doctors would regard as normative for someone in her condition. The result is that Terri suffers from severe muscle contractures, which have caused her body to become contorted. Physical therapy could remedy this, but husband Michael has refused to provide it.

I searched, but did not find this. The Reverend has lined up an impressive possee of experts that agree that the handing of this case is abominable.

That's good. But, if any Freeper has not at least sent an e-mail or made a phone call, now ie the time to do it. Turn up the heat as hot as we can.

Mrs dono turned me on to this man who has relayed the facts of the case to a number of neurologists, who confirm that Terri's care has, shall I say, not been all that it should have been?

Is there an archive on Greer's other cases? Is this guy just plain nuts?

The parents want to take care of her. The husband has moved on. Why is this anything but a no-brainer?

What emotional investment does this judge have in refusing to hear her case? Has he had his ego injured, and is now determined--though stubborn vanity--to see the end of Terri Schiavo? This is about the only rationale I can think of...

He is guardian ad litem. He has a duty to exhaust the alternatives.

I have no idea about the veracity of the claims at Post #87 of "SCHIAVO CASE: APPEAL COURT SAYS NO TO HER PARENTS", but if they're even remotely true, Greer would be far more evil than I would have imagined. It would be pretty darned clear why he's made up facts as he has, and impeachment would be the least of his worries.

There seems to be some kind of agenda going on by the left in this story.

First they made it OK to kill babies. Now they are escalating their agenda to disabled people.

Mam, I have no idea or answers. Only, I do know that the legal countdown to 1:00 pm on Friday is getting close.

My thread, from a very impressive NRO article, is one small thing to maybe catch some more attention to this unspeakable thing that is happening. We handed out flyers at Mass, e-mailed all Florida legislators and the US Congress; made a few phone calls; posted on boards.

Every facet of the sham trial that condemned Terri was RIGGED from the start!!!!

Shown with Governor Jeb Bush is Terri's Primary Doctor from 1998 thru 2002, Dr. Victor Gabone. Of all the doctors hired by Michael, Dr. Gambone had the greatest medical knowledge of Terri while her 'condition' was being 'tested' by the court.

Dr. Gambone stated Terri was aware, and she was not PVS.

Judge Greer stated he was ignoring Dr. Gambone's testimony and opinion's, even though he was Terri's personal doctor, and even though the Judge asked Dr. Gambone to do the evaluation.

Dr. Gambone resigned as Terri's doctor shortly thereafter.
