Twenty boys in uniform huddled over math worksheets on Tuesday, busily working out equations. In another classroom, 20 uniformed girls dissected the components of an essay.

This was the scene at Lincoln Middle School in East St. Louis, the first public school district in the metro area to embrace gender separation as a way to boost student achievement.

Our middle school tried it, and they found that it didn't make any difference. My daughter's nonscientific observation was that the girls in the same-sex classes were even more boy crazy than the girls in the coed classes.

My daughter did research on the subject in pursuit of her Masters Degree and her data shows this to be a "win/win". The boys and girls BOTH benefit, although for slightly different reasons. For some subjects, there is dramatic differentiation. Girls in female only math & science courses do far better than their peers in a mixed class. She is currently teaching at a private all male school. There is a female counterpart school a block away. For specialized "elective" courses, some kids do cross campus boundaries.

Many liberal politicos are sending their kids to gender separate schools... So are conseratives. Parents KNOW what is right for their own children.. Shame on those who would apply a double standard to the offspring of the masses!

As diversity decreases, focus and discipline increase. As diversity increases, discipline problems arise and focus is diffused. I call this "the fog of diversity," and it applies to coeducation as well as the other "diversity programmes" mandated by our government and supported by the sheeple.

Less diversity results in fewer cop-outs and excuses, and allows the teacher to more appropriately tailor presentations and analogies for maximum effect. It is the absence of diversity, not it's enforcement, that truly levels the playing field.

Right, except I would say schools should be for education not social re-engineering. I have gotten past the point of giving them credit for this being an experiment. That in itself would have been evil, treating other people's children like lab rats. No, I think this is a deliberate, calculated process to create a dumbed-down, identity-less proletariat.

Liberals are evil. They constantly create that which they claim to hate. They hate "fascists," yet their policies give birth to exactly that. They claim to hate a lack of diversity, yet in the long run, their policies will result in a homogeneous society in which there is no diversity left at all. Just a working class with no group or family history to identify with -- their only identity will arise from their relationship with the State.

If it was ever an experiment, it was early on in the Public Education process. I think they saw the results, liked it, and went for it. And we are, and will be, living with the hideous results. They are creating monsters of our own descendants and cramming their results down our throats, just like the puppies in "Animal Farm." There is a bright side. The way things are going, when one of our great-great granddaughters is working all day in a Chinese military brothel somewhere in Kansas for a bowl of noodles, she will have been so deprived of the history of American culture that she won't know enough to blame those of us who let this happen. Sigh... Well I better get to work so I can PAY MY TAXES!
