Double Standard: Eco groups silent on federal fish kill The Monitor (McAllen, Texas) March 15,2005
Where is the investigation? Where are the arrests? Where is the outrage? An endangered species, the humpback chub, has been pushed to the brink of extinction, yet we've seen none of the usual responses. Why? Because the slaughter stems from the questionable actions of federal bureaucrats, at the behest of environmental groups. Wiping out protected species evidently only becomes a crime when some industry or private citizen is involved; good intentions give regulators and greens a pass.

Ping.
Wasn't sure what we were talking about for a second...........
The fun that will be had with this headline
Now you're just phishing.....
True dat..................
LOL. "Humping Chubs" sounds like a Richard Simmons video on Viagra.
Michael Moore has a boyfriend?
Humping Chubs????
I thought that Klintoon has just got out of the hospital, and he's already at the fat intern again??
Willie, take some Cilias, and call back after four hours!!
If they truly are "Humping Chubs" as you suggest, shouldn't they be able to replace their lost brethren rather easily? Assuming, of course, they are not of the Richard Simmons variety, as another poster surmised....
OK, who has the list of names for those Bugs and Bunny groups who caused this destruction of irreplaceable resources?
Just so we know who should be named in the damage suit.
I'm serious.
Where is the investigation?
You must remember, this did not happen in Iraq because of our military. Therefore, no investigation.
So this is why I'm paying triple price for humpback chub filets?
Here's the story ---
Federal bureaucrats murdered thousands of minnows after releasing a Noahs flood into the Colorado River last November.
The incident unfolded after federal functionaries opened the taps at the Glen Canyon Dam and soaked the Grand Canyon in order to aid the endangered humpback chub and its fragile ecosystem.
The 90 hour long water release apparently destroyed the fragile ecosystem, taking the endangered fish bait with it.
We don't know what their fate is, said Jeff Lovich, chief of the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center in Flagstaff.
During the man-made Biblical flood, the Bureau of Reclamation released as much as 41,000 cubic feet of water a second from four of the dam's giant steel tubes. Scientists hoped to create backwaters and pools to help the fish make whoopee.
Apparently, the gazillion gallon shower didnt work. They counted 63% fewer chubs after the deluge.
Bureaucrats are now on a frantic hunt for any signs of 7,000 missing minnows. Speculation is that the fish bait are dead, they were washed downstream, theyre hiding or happy birds are sleeping off a great meal.
Pagans in the environmental movement are deeply upset by the decimation of one of their utopian minnow gods. The dam is collapsing the Grand Canyons ecosystem, whined eco-socialists at the Utah based Living Rivers cult. They have placed the big dodo curse on the dam and have asked the Great White Father in Washington to tear it down.
