Blast Targets Kosovo President
Voice of America ^

Posted on 03/15/2005 6:51:42 AM PST by Alex Marko

An explosive device placed in a trash container exploded in downtown Pristina Tuesday damaging the passing car carrying Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova.

The blast occurred at 8:20 am as President Rugova's motorcade was headed to a meeting with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

The president was not injured but one person was hurt by flying glass and the president's car was damaged. Shop windows were blown out from the blast which police say was apparently detonated by remote control.

Mr. Rugova, who continued with his regular schedule, said the blast proves there are still bad elements who want to destabilize Kosovo. Last week a grenade was hurled towards United Nations headquarters in Pristina.

The latest incident comes one day after former prime minister Ramush Haradinaj pleaded not guilty to war crimes at The Hague tribunal. Mr. Haradinaj, a guerilla leader in the 1998 1999 war against Serbia, was chosen by Mr. Rugova to be prime minister three months ago. He resigned last week and went to The Hague voluntarily.

This is a delicate period in Kosovo as a new prime minister is to be chosen and Mr. Solana is here to consult on that matter with Kosovar officials. Since the Serbia and Montenegro army was driven out of Kosovo by NATO forces six years ago the province has been administered by the United Nations with security provided by a NATO-led force. The 90 percent ethnic Albanian population of Kosovo seeks independence, something strongly opposed by Serbia.

Albanian KLA terrorists, trained and equipped by alphabet agencies before the war, NATO during the war and NG after the war could easilly kill Rugova if they wanted to, like they murdered 7 Serbs in a bus bombing in 2001

It was a 'friendly' message to Rugova.

VOA is infested with islamist terror suppoorters on U.S. taxpayer's dime. Use of the term "kosovar" is a tell tale sign.

Does VOA in her reports say "FLORIDAR officials", "CALIFORNIAR officials", IDAHAR officials, or Ontariar officials?

If not, why they call Kosovoan (or Kosovan) officials "kosovar"?

Cleanup of Clinton detritus is long due.

Rugova avoids assasination amidst growing inter-Albanian struggle for power

Today's blast which damaged the car of Ibrahim Rugova who was hurrying to meet Javier Solana cannot be seen out of the political context of the growing struggle for power in Kosovo. This incident makes it even more urgent for the international community to establish political stability in Kosovo because discussion about the status of the restive Serbian province could hardly be imagined amidst present antagonisms which can easily turn into further violence.

Gracanica, March 15, 2005

After the former Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj was charged by the International Criminal Court in the Hague with murder, rape and deporting civilians (Serbs and Albanians), Kosovo has relapsed in a kind of political limbo. While the members of the leading coalition of Rugova's LDK and the party of Ramush Haradinaj (AAK) insist on preserving the present government and appoinging a new AAK Prime Minister, the opposition parties, particularly Thaci's PDK and Surroi's ORA insist on broader coalition and creation of a new government accusing Rugova that he wants to take all power for himself taking benefit from the weakened AAK.

The AAK is at the same time aware that in a broader coalition without Ramush Haradinaj it can only get a symbolic share in power and soon be completely sidelined by the PDK. Veton Surroi of ORA sees the present government completely incompetent for the tasks which lie in front of Kosovo during this decisive year and hopes to get a prominent position in future negotiations.

However, despite insisting of the international community that the broad coalition government would be the best solution to avoid further destabilization of the Province, Rugova (as on last elections) seems to be determined to avoid sharing power with Thaci, his main rival in the Kosovo political scene.

On the other hand the Serb participation in any kind of the inter-Albanian settlement is uncertain particularly because Thaci strongly opposes the decentralization plan which had already been approved by Ramush Haradinaj. Thaci is also no less tainted with suspicions of being involeved in post-war persecution of Serbs. Even if some individual Serb representatives would eventually join the government they would hardly give truly multiethnic credibility to Kosovo institutions which are seen by Kosovo Serbs as ethnic Albanian. With strong insisting on UCK mythology and the vision of building an ethnic Albanian society Kosovo Government gives hardly a picture of a multiethnic institution that can win Serb confidence, no matter whether the Prime Minister is Haradinaj or Thaci.

>>>>>>Since the Serbia and Montenegro army was driven out of Kosovo by NATO forces six years ago the province has been administered by the United Nations with security provided by a NATO-led force. >>>>>>>>

This paragraph should read:

Since the Serbia and Montenegro army was driven out of Kosovo by NATO forces six years ago more than 1000 Albanians were brutally murdered, more than 160 Ancient Christian monasteries have been destroyed or demolished, more than 250,000 Serbs, Roma, Goranis, Jews, Croats and Albanians were driven out of Kosovo, more than 100,000 of real estate has been looted and more than 10,000 houses burned down in Serbian province administered by the United Nations with security provided by a NATO-led force

NATO calls it security.

Geneva Convention (IV) relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War Geneva, 12 August 1949, calls it WAR CRIMES.

..."In the case of occupied territory, the application of the present Convention shall cease one year after the general close of military operations; however, the Occupying Power shall be bound, for the duration of the occupation, to the extent that such Power exercises the functions of government in such territory, by the provisions of the following Articles of the present Convention: 1 to 12, 27, 29 to 34, 47, 49, 51, 52, 53, 59, 61 to 77, 143."...

>>>>>>>The 90 percent ethnic Albanian population of Kosovo seeks independence, something strongly opposed by Serbia.<<<

The propaganda drivel about "90% of Kosovo population being Albanian was circulated EVEN BEFORE the war. It has been debunked by the fact that some 100,000 Serbs and Roma still live in Kosovo, while over 250,000 have been driven out.

In order to have 90% figure to be true , Kosovo population had to be 3.5 million BEFORE THE WAR!

Sadly, the 90% Kosovo population being Albanian is true today, AS THE RESULT OF ILLEGAL NATO AGRESSION and occupation of Kosovo and Metohija province. After june 1999, NATO has allowed expulsion of over 250,000 non-Albanian population and has not prevented illegal settlkement of over 400,000 citizens of Albania.

Even if Kosovo is 100% Albanian, Albanians represent only 20% of Serbia population of 10 million. And ZIP code is not a reason for seccession.

Following such logic, ANY national minority in ANY country could migrate and concentrate in an area of 4000sq.Mi. and REQUEST independence.

There are 200 countries in the world and over 10,000 ethnci groups.

Awarding Kosovo Albanians with independence, only because they became majority by illegal means is an invition to disaster.

The Serbian Army was not driven out by NATO. The Serb Army was driven out by Slobo, who committed an "et tu, brutus" backstabbing.

We still do not have all pieces of puzzle available.

After 77 days of bombing and no winning streak, with civilian casualties and NATO blunders piling up NATO alliance was on the brink of collapse.

At that moment, Slobo capitulated, although Yugoslav Army unitsin Kosovo were not affected by the bombing because they were not the primary target, civilians were.

It is unclear why Slobo capitulated. I have heard various explanations. I personally do not find any of them credible. Perhaps, the truth is somewhere in between.

1. Slobo was 'sleeper' who was chosen to play the bad guy and he acted with perfection. He sold Serbs down the river according to the instruction from his handlers.

2. Russians provided him with intel or "intel" data that NATO will start devastating carpet bombing of Belgrade and Russians in their brotherly manner explained they will not interfere.

3. Americans promissed massive use of Hyperbaric bombs on civilian targets (mysterious Swedish businessman as an intermediarry)

Anyway, KUMANOVO agreement was something that Serbs were willing to sign in Rambouillet. It was diplomatic victory for Serbia, albeit at horrible cost( $100B of infrastructure destroyed, land poluted with DU, Serbs as a people demonized like no other people in recent history).

NATO has a very clever legal apparatus, in a nutshell, they saved NATO from it's self inflicted facial bruising. They should also deeply thank Russian "diplomatic" maneuvering which also helped keep NATO from completely cooking it's own goose, I mean you really have to hand it them, at least, they provided the public a real cliff hanger of an ending with that debacle.

I used to think of this conflict as a liberal guilt trip to appease muslims. Now it appears to be simply part of the state sposored internationalisation of narcotics and white slave trade. Secret funding for secret wars.
