Private aircraft seen as new terror target

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Terrorists are eyeing private planes and helicopters as prime weapons for attacks while testing commercial aircraft security systems put in place after September 11 to find weaknesses, says a government assessment of intelligence reports. The federal government has spent nearly $12 billion to improve security on commercial airlines, but the low level of security for private aircraft makes them tempting targets for terrorists, the aviation security overview said. "Spectacular terrorist attacks can generate an outpouring of support for the perpetrators from sympathizers and terrorism sponsors with similar agendas," said the joint report from the FBI and Homeland Security Department. "The public fear resulting from a terrorist hijacking or aircraft bombing also serves as a powerful motivator for groups seeking to further their causes," the report said.

I think law enforcement and government types have been looking out for private or missing aircraft since 9-11. This is old news written up like some revelation.

Here's a suggestion. When swarthy, Middle Eastern types launch a private plane attack on US territory, we total Tehran. If they do it twice, out goes Damascus.

We know who is funding them.

Oh if it were only that easy.

I don't think the terrorist brag as to who they are that much anymore, if they do, they die in the near future.

We have to verify who deserves the spanking before we lay that smack down my friend.

In spirit though, I am with you all the way.
We get hit, flatten the ones who did it in my view too.

Do they? OBL, Al-Zawahiri and Zarqawi are still out there protected and funded by state sponsors.
Is it a police action (a la Kerry) or is it war with all of those guys the enemy?
Iran and Syria have aided and abetted terrorism against the United States.

Private aircraft, eh? I see they are thinking much smaller these days. Unless "private" means Gulfstreams and Hawkers and such.
