I am interested in starting a sister organization of The Young Conservatives of Texas. This new group will be called, The Young Conservatives of California. It will adopt the mission statement and stated goals of YCT, but will have complete autonomy from YCT in everything it does. If you have high school or college kids or grandkids, please have them contact me if they are interested in forming a chapter on their campus. My credentials can be found here: http://www.yct.org/books.htm
I will be using the principles and ideas outlined in my book on campus activism to build a successful conservative youth movement that will fill the void left by groups like Young Americans for Freedom. We will work alongside College Republicans and Protest Warrior to take back our college campuses.
Please pass my information along to anyone who may be interested in talking to me about this project. My number is 361-772-5175. I live in San Diego and attend California Western School of Law. I will begin this project May 1st. Thanks in advance for helping me with this.
Brendan

Good luck Brendan! Perseverance is the key.
Not sure what gap is left by YAF that you refer to. There are also the College Republicans and the Young Republican Federation of California (YRFC). They are both conservative organizations that you could join or start your own chapter.
It's not like we have too many conservative activists going around. It would be great if we all quit splitting off and dividing our strengths.
Just my two cents having been through it all before I became an OAF. At any rate, good luck with your group.
Good on you, Brendan.
The world needs more conservatives and California sounds like it is in desperate need of more conservatives - especially young ones.
More power to you!
Republicans are very seldom conservative. This will be a non-partisan group that upholds CONSERVATIVE principles. YAF did that, but CR and YR have to toe the party line too often. YCC will be independent of the Republican Party.
Thanks for all your support.
So what happened to YAF?
Good question. I don't really know. Buckley started it. You never hear anything about them anymore.
But YCT has the resources and history to lend to YCC. We have already started The Young Conservatives of Pennsylvania. www.ycop.org They spear-headed the Pat Toomey campaign.

Do not see too much scheduled for Cali-fornia or Texas 2005.
I know my own kids would like a conservative group that catered to the 21-30ish age. Maybe I'm just not up on those groups.
Nevada needs it more.
stay away from the CAGOP.
I am going to Las Vegas May 12th. Contact me about meeting college kids from Nevada. I will happily do so.
The California Republican Party is not always conservative. Their needs to be a right-wing movement independant of the parties. Not everyone wants to label themselves as a Republican or Democrat.
Good luck with your organization and we'll stay in touch down the road.
Please do.
I am anxious to get things underway.
I have cleared things with the YCT chairman, and he gave me the green light.
I was curious about EBAY so I posted a "first edition, signed copy" of The Conservative Revolution.
It will be fun to watch and see if anyone bids on it!

You guys let me know if you talk to any YCC's out there!
AVNevis,
When you have an idea of what California college/university you will be attending, let me know and I will put you in touch with the conservatives at that school. As a Regional Coordinator for the West Coast with the Leadership Institute, I'm informed and up on the activism going on at California campuses. I'll also be working with Brendan on the YCC thing.
Best,

Our daughter has found quite the conservative population at Cal Poly SLO, but there are already some good conservative clubs she's involved in (including Campus Crusade for Christ). She said one of her friends jokingly referred to Cal Poly as "the best Christian "public" school in the country."
