Atlanta attorney, the blogger 'Buckhead,' first discredited anchor's report
By Rachel Tobin Ramos Atlanta Business Chronicle Updated: 7:00 p.m. ET March 13, 2005Before Dan Rather signed off March 9 after 24 years as a news anchor for CBS, conservative "netizens" already were cheering the man they believe led to the tidal wave of criticism that forced Rather to leave his post a year early: Atlanta attorney Harry W. MacDougald.

MacDougald, 46, who has been with Atlanta's Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC since 2002, was the blogger "Buckhead" who first started a cascade of criticism about a report Rather aired Sept. 8 on CBS's "60 Minutes II" about President George W. Bush's Air National Guard service.
MacDougald's initial Web posting on FreeRepublic.com, less than four hours after the Sept. 8 broadcast, said the font in the documents Rather used to show Bush had received preferential treatment in the military weren't typical of 1970s-era typewriters.

Your 'play' on words hasn't failed you yet!!

Bravo for Buckhead.
If Jim Robinson hadn't founded Free Republic, there were would have been no Free Republic poster named Buckhead to spot the fraud and report it.
Kerry might be our president if not for Buckhead, Free Republic and Jim Robinson.
"Buckhead fired the zot heard 'round the world."
Yes, Buckhead is responsible for the biggest Zot so far on Free Republic.

My thoughts exactly. Dorks!
In his blog on FreeRepublic.com, writing under the pen name "Buckhead," MacDougald could barely hide his excitement about the media being caught using phony documents: "We should all be gathering recipes for crow, and e-mailing them to these nitwits, because they are going to have to eat a whole lot of it."
___________
Heh. He called MSM journalists nitwits. I would call them clumsy and stupid propagandists.
Buckhead has driven a huge spike in the coffin of the MSM.
Congrats Buckhead!
Apologies to 0cents.com for modifying their image (maybe you guys can do up special Chief, Marshal, Sheriff castings for the above individuals).
Cool Pajama Patrol badge stuff can be purchased here
By the way, all the rest of us have to Deputies
Don't y'all forget Howlin, she was right there in the thick of things when all this started.

An awesome, truly historic moment. Significantly, Freepers seem to be aware of momentous events and the turning of history. Libs are aware of nothing but the minutia of their own selfish lives.
Did you know that the thread that I posted to that night was started by none other than Pikamax?
Most folks know that Howlin ran the research thread that had 250+ posts by 6:30 AM the next morning.
Howlin later compiled a timeline of all relevant posts on all relevant threads, and there were DOZENS of posts questioning these documents before I made my post. My contribution to the affair was to notice the fonts. I missed completely the superscript, the perfect centering, the kerning, all the violations of military protocol, the content errors, etc., etc.
I've gotten far too much credit. The medium is the message. It enabled "net centric warfare" in which dozens, then hundreds then thousands of ordinary folks combined to take this story down.
There seems to be some fascination in the press with my past conservative activities, but all that really shows is that I am a bit like Forrest Gump. I just happened to be standing there, saw something go by, and said "Hey, Look at that!" and everybody went nuts. Could have been anybody.
It's probably deliberate. First of all, they don't understand "net centric warfare", second, they're too dumb to figure out that the memos are fake so they figure someone must have tipped you off, and third, if there are dozens of posters noticing the problems in real-time, it blows away their pet Karl Rove conspiracies.
You think you're gonna cast FreeRepublic from that bunch of Lefties? Good luck!
All things being equal, though, how about Tommy Lee Jones as Buckhead and Marcia Gay Harden as Howlin to re-create post #47. I see Buckhead typing excitedly, then go to split screen as Howlin receives the post...
Your casting works for me! I'm just proud to be able to say that I was there on the thread that night when history was made. Mega Kuddos to Buckhead, Tanker_KC, and Howlin!!!! (I want their autographs!)
As someone who joined FR in the wake of Rathergate, I just want to say, you're far too modest. Too many people see something that's a little out of place and let it slide. The first instance that comes to mind is the ticket agent on 9/11 who was nervous when he saw Mohammed Atta, but didn't say anything about it.
You spoke up, and that's what made the difference. I know it's had a big effect on my life, because after hearing about FR on the news, I got curious and poked my nose in, then joined. I've found a community that gives me hope and encouragement, as well as a place to vent, and I can only hope that one day I can have even half the effect on events as you have had.
