Unsuprisingly, two columns that appeared recently in the Toronto Star and in Germany's Der Spiegel were ignored by the mainstream media.
The Toronto Star column was written by Richard Gwyn, an opponent of American policy in Iraq and the other was written by Claus Christian Malzahn.
Gywn rightly pointed out that 'the war against terrorism will now begin to turn into a war for democracy.' He concluded, 'It is now time to set down into type the most difficult sentence in the English language. President George W. Bush was right.'
'He understood that to defeat an idea, (terrorism) it was necessary to have an opposite and superior idealogy. (democracy)'
Malzahn compared Bush's actions in Iraq to Ronald Reagan's policies during the Cold War.
'Europeans of today, just like the Europeans of 1987, could not imagine that the world might change. It was difficult for them not to cringe during Ronald Reagan's 1987 'Tear Down This Wall' speech.'
'Most experts agreed that his demand for the Wall to be torn down was inopportune, utopian and crazy. Yet three years later East Germany disappeared from the map.'
Malzahn surmised that people across the Middle East 'may just get the idea in their collective heads to free themselves from their oppressive regiemes, just like East Germany did. Bush may be right, just as Reagan was then.'
Hopefully those Democrats who continue to critcize the President and who ofter offer roadblocks, instead of assistance to the presdient's policies, will acquire the wisdom and courage that some of Bush's foreign detractors have found.

Has there been a crack in the dam so to speak? Or just the ramblings of a reporter or two
Nice, very, very nice! And a big fat "Wooohooo! Told you so!!" in the face of every DUmmy! :-)~
Many on the left realize that they were caught with their hands around their ankles, pants down, voluntarily getting buggered by the commies during the cold war. Hence, they know America will not trust them to run foreign policy ever again if they continue their crack-whore romance with the Islamofacists. So they are currently hedging their bets, and praying (to Gaia) for the worst to befall the US.
We have a traffic jam building on the road to Damascas.
Don't become IRRATIONALY EXHUBERENT.
The Arabs might revert back to form and dig in.
A long ways to go. Courage.
I'd say there are rumlblings, and the walls are chipping...just waiting for the dam to burst!
It's not an epiphany or realization on liberals part, it's pure economics. With Bush's successes and steadfast determination over issues which cannot be compromised on, democrats and their mignions will be left under the table to eat scraps instead of having a seat.
Emotions meet truth, a very long story and script, but it was an inevitable roadshow.
Also heard Steve Roberts defending the President on the radio last week.
And of course, the NYSlimes acknowledging that there were WMD after all......
As the Qu'ran states......Retreat in order to regroup is acceptable in combating your enemy. Honor will not be lost as long as you are a deceitful little bastard who will con those looking at the situation openly and with reason. Then comes the $hitstorm.
I'd say it's a convoy!
They rarely actually tell you what they are really thinking but are constantly telling us what WE should be thinking. When they actually confess, its quite refreshing and virtually always confirms that we really knew they were thinking already. But it always sounds better in their own words so other liberals can't accuse us of making it up.
Now if Maureen Dowd would just admit that he actually hates men because she envies their genitalia and Frank Rich would admit that he wears womens underwear....
If I were the Mullahs in Iran, I would be peeing in my shorts about now.
Actually I could care less if they admitted they were wrong in opposing us. By next week they'll just find some other reason to hate us and it will be like we were never right ever. So we can file this one under "BFD".
Frank Rich is way more feminine than MoDo. I think the only hope MoDo has of hooking up with a mate is to go Lezbo. Actually, I don't want to insult the lesbians, so I take it back.
Who's the hottie?
More of the endless procession of 'Lebanese Babes for Freedom' on the protest thread.
There is more to it...and it may just be that some of the documents recovered in Iraq are being translated and that Terriq Assiz has been talking...and some liberal journalists who have sources are getting ahead of the curve that is coming.
