Hardly 'blitzing' the talk shows. This is the story of the day...news has a very short shelf life. Don't lose sight of the fact that less than 48 hours ago Ms. Smith was a totally anonymous. Just living her life. Then pow...she is begging for her life, and talking down a killer from the rage he was in. After 13 hours, it is over...and the press is all over her. Her composure is stunning...but she looks exhausted. I hope she gets mental health counseling...this ordeal could bring her into post traumatic stress syndrome.

She said that she told him he didn't deserve to die with a bullet in his back nor did any of his victims or any other people. She didn't want him to go out of the apartment in a blaze of bullets.

She didn't say he didn't deserve to die. She told him he had to be punished for what he did to his victims.

I agree with you. And I think she does also. She said that she believed that she was able to reach him and that if he left, others might not be able to reach him and others might be killed.

I truely believe that God has been working in her heart since her husband was murdered and she was ready for the situation she found herself in.

Her Aunt said that she had grown a lot in the past two years. She told her aunt after the ordeal that maybe her life did have a purpose.

This girl's story is too good to be true. Did you see the fakiness of her news conference at about 9:30 PM on CNN? Total fake, just like Susan Smith after she drowned her kids.

Smell test failures just for starters...

i.e.: She followed him in the truck he stole from the murdered off duty custons agent in her car and then didn't flee when she was in her own car, by herself? No way, Jose. I say she is an accessory after the fact for that alone!

Next, she said he took her in the bathroom while he showered and put a towel over her head because he was modest? Pleeeeeease, this guy was on trial for BRUTALLY RAPING his own girlfriend!

Third, in each interview with her today, on Sean Hannity's radio show then on TV on Wolf Blitzed, she says the exact words describing his comments about breakfast: "That's real butter?". Sheesh... she made him breakfast because he did the 'cooking' in the boudior!

This whole story fails the smell test for me. I think he used his well to do connections and her telephone to get hooked up with his Mommy, who set them up with the lawyer and this whole story was cooked up by the lawyer! We're talking millions in made for TV and book money for her and PR makeover for a cold blooded murderer! Mark my word, folks.

How dare you. Ashley Smith is the new Mother Teresa. You must hang spellbound on her every word. And if you don't agree:

You're a cynic and a spoilsport who wants everyone to be unhappy.

You hate women.

You hate Jesus.

I just don't want her compassion for the criminal to lead to a sympathy movement for him and possibly spare him from the punishment he deserves.

He is going to get the death penalty. They are going to kill him. Are you afraid they are going to reduce the amount of the voltage?

"The police here in Atlanta said that she did everything right..."

Maybe you shouldn't have used them as an example. (joking!)

I don't know about that. She may well be the real thing. But it's not wrong to ask questions.

That's what it's come down to on this thread, unfortunately.
No one is allowed to look at the situation and just logically question the timeline.
Maybe it's a guy thing, but, I am still mystified as to why Ashley did not call 911 at 6 am, when she had the chance.
And I still don't get the pancakes.
But, I'm sure the ladies will set us straight :-).

So, I guess you can accuse me of pissing on her, but I think my gut feeling is right on "Susan Smith II".

Me too. First of all, she says her daughter is five. She also says her husband was stabbed next to her in a fight four years ago. Meaning they were out bar hopping or something. Where was the daughter? Where was the daughter all Friday night? Where is the daughter now? It stinks. Hannity should be careful having an orgasm over this woman.

"We are not hung up on her. We are awed, once again, by God's power and grace."

Ditto. This is a beautiful women who showed God's power in diffusing this murderous man's rampage. Any attack on her, as far as I am concerned, is an attack on Christianity.

I find it a extremly small-minded to say that since she is not saying hateful words about Nichols that she must thus have a "thang" for him. Whatever!

Speaking as a Christian if he showed up in my apartment I'd have prayed the Good Lord to grant him rest as I emptied both barrels of my shotgun in his chest.

I didn't lecture anyone. I just asked some of the folks to focus on important part of the story, namely: Brian Nichols is a murderous scumbag.
