WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al Qaeda's chief ally in Iraq, may be planning attacks on "soft targets" in the United States including movie theaters, restaurants and schools, Time magazine reported on Sunday. White House national security adviser Stephen Hadley would not discuss the specific warning, which Time said was circulated among U.S. security agencies last week in a restricted bulletin. But he said the administration was concerned about reports -- "which we think are very credible" -- that Zarqawi is working more closely with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization. Hadley said movie theaters, restaurants and schools "are the kinds of targets we know that al Qaeda has traditionally been concerned about." "But we, at this point sitting here, do not have evidence of a specific operation by Zarqawi's organization targeting those kinds of targets. We just don't have that kind of information at this point," Hadley told CNN's "Late Edition." The warning comes two weeks after President Bush, in a rare public mention of the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said stopping bin Laden from a new attack on U.S. soil was "the greatest challenge of our day." Time said the bulletin was based on the interrogation of a member of Zarqawi's organization. It cited Zarqawi's belief that "if an individual has enough money, he can bribe his way into the U.S.," by obtaining a visa to Honduras and then traveling across Mexico and the southern U.S. border.

"Hmm, another reason to stay away from the movies..."
Also another advantage of home schooling.
Also another reason for the original intent of the 2d amendment not to be infringed.
Just like it says.

A lot of cops I know call attacking a school a nightmare scenario. The event itself of course. But after the fact- they know they would be outgunned and powerless to stop people from taking matters into there own hands.
I seem to have lost the thread of the conversation, which fellow?
I hope you're right. But what I've observed is that 80 million gun owners do not an army make. And that's what we're talking about. An army. Or, at the very least, a militia, as you point out.
Frankly, I was astonished at the lack of outrage in the days and weeks following 9/11. How hard to we have to get hit? This was worse than Pearl Harbor. And within a short time, things were back to business as usual.
No, I don't see the good people of America sitting by quietly to enjoy the Israeli experience.
Again, I hope your take on this is accurate. But I don't think we'll take it as well as the Israelis. I was in Israel last summer -- admittedly during one of their quiet periods, thank God -- and everyone, and I mean everyone, has a weapon at their disposal. They have a very sober and clear understanding of what it means for every citizen to be a soldier. We don't.
If we get hit again, we'll hear the same litany from the Dems about how we really deserved it, the same hollow saber-rattling from the Pubbies about carrying the fight to the enemy and closing the borders. And then nothing will happen.
And if there are actions taken by individual citizens, look for private ownership of firearms to be abolished. It's a sure bet if the libs control the White House and the Congress, and more than likely if the Pubbies run things. Just remember, GWB pledged to sign the AWB renewal into law if it ever got to his desk. We can thank the House for doing the dirty work of letting it die on the vine. GWB is no friend of the Second Amendment, all flashy rhetoric to the contrary.
It would get messy. It may take more than once, but after that, all bets are off.
I thought the same thing after 9/11. How many times must we get hit, and how high must the body count get before the governing authorities realize that securing the borders, and national sovereignty is more important than all the cheap illegal immigrant labor for multinational corporations?
Apparently not yet.
HUA !
That would be you, with your comment on "you, your family, and many many many others," followed by the helpful suggestion that they should be killed before they had a chance to answer the question.
FIRST: STOP SHOUTING STUPID QUESTIONS AND PRETENDING YOU'RE IMPORTANT
Second: Realize that we're not going to kill all 1 billion Muslims, nor do we need to. They're not all our enemies.
Third: Recognize the strategy of the bad guys, which is to start an all-out religious war. They want us to start treating all Muslims as part of the "bad guy" crowd, so that the Muslim world will respond in kind. (You and your bloodthirsty pals are playing right into bin Laden's hands.)
Fourth: Recognizing that strategy, our counter-strategy should be to isolate the bad guys from the vast majority of Muslims. This has two components: a) hunt down and kill the bad guys; b) help the rest of the Muslim world to escape the clutches of the bastards who are using them. The present strategy of the Bush Administration is doing both, and it's bearing fruit.
Your oh-so-practical approach of finding ways to justify mass killing is precisely the wrong thing to do. All you're doing is creating enemies. That's stupid.
Horse manure. You're thinking like a bigot. Not only that, you're making sure that the number of THEM is as big as possible. What a stupid thing to do.
I'm merely making an observation on what I believe will happen if they succeed in pushing even a small fraction of Americans over the edge.
I am not advocating, promoting, or supporting citizen-on-citizen violence.
Indeed, I am suggesting a way it can be avoided, IF the good and decent møøselimbs chose wisely and warn us before the event[s].
I know such exist, I'm just having extreme difficulty finding them in any numbers much above single digits.
With luck, a few will speak up and save their fellows from a bloodbath the likes of which this country has never seen.
God Himself was willing to spare Soddom: "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it."
I suppose islam deserves no less...
Ah, now you're really talking like a nazi. Blaming an entire religion for the actions of a few. How pleasing.
"Islam" didn't start this war. Some Islamic fanatics started it, and they're the ones who need killing.
Perhaps you should start thinking outside the reptile part of your brain, and recognize that most Muslims are not interested in what the terrorists have to sell. The events in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and even the Palestinian Authority are evidence that, given a chance at freedom, and some protection against the bad guys who'd stop them from achieving it, "even" Muslims will reach for it.
The trick is to isolate the bad guys, and to help the good guys. The thing you do not want to do, is to increase the number of bad guys by taking a page out of the fascist playbook.
Ultimately we will need to either die ourselves, or kill 'enough' møøselimbs so that their survivors get the message and become good neighbors, spreading islam by battles on the field of ideas, not by the sword.
'Enough' is any number between 1 and 1.2 billion. They can stop us at any number by repudiating conversion at the point of a gun...
Bingo!
Unfortunately the basturds only hope for their own personal survival is to drag the rest of islam into the fray.
All the 1.2 billion need to do to get killed is nothing. Their mullets mullahs will be standing hiding right behind them...
No problem-happy to help people stay out of unecessary trouble.
Thanks! I've had no reason to carry around a loaded firearm, but shootin' off my mouth without the facts could sure get someone else in trouble!
