Rice pointedly declined to rule out running for president in 2008 on Friday during an hour-long interview with reporters at WASHINGTON TIMES, top sources tell DRUDGE. Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... Developing late Friday for Saturday cycles... MORE...
When you can focus, I'm in.
Don't give me your Liberal Bravo Sierra. I don't have the time for it.
I'm an ex-libertarian, & I've got to say that you will just hafta deal w/ us. TOO BAD if you don't like us, 'cuz we're not goin away. There IS a pro-life faction w/in the libertarian movement, & one of them has a website called Libertarians for Life (I love their logo!):
http://www.l4l.org
& it disappoints me when I hear everyone say that all libertarians support abourtion. I strongly agree w/ you that abortion is murder (I wouldn't use the word "infanticide", but I do believe that it IS murder).
The member of Congress that I admire the most, Rep. RON PAUL (R-TX) is strongly pro-life; & as a matter of fact, as a medical doctor, he has delievered 4.00 babies! Please don't paint libertarians w/ such a broad brush.
No, I am not; but that is what you're demanding that people do; people you don't even know; you're making decisions for them about things you don't even know about.
"There are groups of people I can't abide, that is people that think that others should live by their set of rules."
Yeah! The heck with those freaks who think murder is wrong!
That has got to be the most ridiculous comment that I have ever read on FR
Here we go again...there's no common sense on these boards anymore when it comes to this and that "other" issue. And it seems like the majority of the threads have become about these two issues and that really saddens me. So what if Condi is "mildly" pro-choice. So what? Bush isn't doing anything about abortion. No President will. If that's the only reason some here won't vote for her then to hell with them.
Hmmmm ~ a total mystery post.
Well, some of us will never support a pro-abortion Pubbie candidate just because she is black and female and a dandy to some here solely because of that.
I will also bet you a fund drive that no one in South Carolina can run as a pro-abortion Republican and win statewide office.
I'm not aware of one here in Tenn and ya'll are more conservative than we are.
You're wrong. Again:
(George W.) Bush has said he is opposed to abortion and would support a constitutional amendment making the procedure illegal - except in cases of rape, incest and when the womans life is jeopardy. Source: Associated Press Jun 14, 1999
That has to be the most insane thing I've read ever on FR.
Thank you for your reply.
I would say you are trying to persuade me to thinking like you do. Isn't that all we can ever do, really?
Are there witnesses, a death certificate, a grave?
The circumstances you posit are so rare as to defy imagination.
I don't think Rice has a particular interest in being President. I don't think she would stand up to Hillary in debates and campaigning. She would just be a Rick Lazio in skirts.
Exactly. I am by no means foolish enough to think that my own opinion is that important. But even Hillary and the New York Times understand, on the evidence of the last election, that abortion is now a political loser.
If Condi runs on a "mild pro-choice" platform against Hillary, all of the pro-abortionists, the feminists, and the leftists will vote for hillary anyway. So her pro-choice stance will do her very little good among the pro-abortion voters. But she WILL lose millions of pro-life, social conservative voters.
Exactly. But this is what we're going to hear. And notice it's practically the same people.
Of course, this thread is a lot better than the other Condi thread; over there, the guys are alluding to the fact that she's a woman who's never been married, so you know what that means...
Ok Howlin...I don't have the kind of long-suffering tonight that you require, so you just have yourself a nice little night there, ok?
Cheney will step down for "health" reasons in early 2007...Rice will have a year as VP to run as an incumbent.
Possibly the most DEMENTED statement I've ever seen. Ever.
One word. JUDGES.
