Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A California businessman has offered Terri Schiavo's estranged husband $1 million to not starve her to death and to transfer legal guardianship for her to Terri's family.
Robert Herring, Sr., lives in San Diego and is the founder of WEALTHTV, a lifestyle and entertainment television channel. He also spent more than 30 years in the electronics industry as the founder and owner of HERCO Technology, which he later sold to a larger firm.
Herring contacted infamous attorney Gloria Allred to pay Michael Schiavo $1 million if he complies with Herring's request.
"After viewing video of Terri on television, I came to the belief that there was hope for her," Herring said in a statement Thursday. "As events have proceeded in the legal battle, it became clear to me that if something was not done for Terri, that all hope for her would be lost."
The money has been placed in a a trust account operated by Allred on Wednesday and the attorney sent a letter to Michael Thursday morning comunicating the offer.
There is no word on whether Michael will accept the offer. Should he do so, courts will still need to sign off on changing legal guardian ship for Terri.
Herring said he acted now because he is worried that Florida courts will not turn back on their decision to allow Michael to starve Terri to death next week.
"With a date of March 18th quickly approaching, and no other viable hope for Terri to be able to keep her feeding tube, I felt compelled to act," he said.
Allred confirmed Herring's rationale.
"It now appears that the court process is ending, and that the legislative process has failed to stop the removal of the feeding tube," she said.
"He recognizes that unless something is done immediately, Terri Schiavo is not likely to survive very long," Allred added. "Knowing that time is of the essence and realizing that he is fortunate enough to be able to help, he has decided to take action.".
Allred was the attorney for Amber Frey in the infamous Scott Peterson trial. Frey had an affair with Scott during the time he killed Laci and Conner Peterson.
These traits aren't mutually exclusive. ;o) A very lovely poem....she's lucky!
That is so sweet.
> I think nasty is against the rules, civility is appreciated.
Well, you *did* accuse a man of attempted murder. Whether he actually is an attempted murderer is something the judicial system has declined to accuse him of... and accusing someone of murderis a *big* accusation, and one not only not to be made lightly, but also with good evidence.
She'd bill you ror opening, reading and responding.
Thanks. I drink a lot. Freeper Laura Earl is my wonderful wife. She tried to set me up.
Thanks. It is sincere too!
Probably
I'm sure she does! ;)
> Michael is still afraid
I'm not well informed on the conspiracy theories accusing him of murder. However, I've seen rather a *lot* of situations vaguely like Mikes, where one spouse becomes, in essense, a massive burden to the other. Same with children and senile/otherwise disabled parents. Love can turn to bitterness with extreme stress like this.
It might not be terribly romantic, and there are certainly cases where love endures, but wanting the massively disabled spouse to "just die already" is just not that uncommon.
Oh really? I think it's nasty to accuse a stranger of attempted murder.
I didn't accuse anyone of anything. Can't you follow the thread?
And BTW, some of us think removing food and water from a helpless person is equal to murder, legal or not. The "judge" has disallowed even letting her family attempt to feed or hydrate her orally without the tube. What do you call that? Euthanasia, justice?
>why did he try every therapy the first five years?<
Did any of that "therapy" include VISITING HER?
There is a compelling reason Michael Schiavo is not taking the deal - once he relinquishes control of access to Terri, there is great likelihood that the evidence of the abuse he once exerted on Terri will come to light. What puzzles me is the junkyard dog attitude of Judge Greer in this case, as he has supported Michael and his lawyer, George Felos, in keeping any access to Terri away from the family, the Florida Department of Children and Families, and any independent evaluation of Terri's current condition.
Michael's soul is already cursed. At the very least, he will have a really long time in purgatory before he EVER gets any divine judgment on his life.
Thanks for the link. I was thinking that she should be allowed to live, but if she's already dead, what more can you do?
This drivel has been around a long time. It doesn't address the motives of either the husband or judge, lack of actions by either, judicial errors etc. That are the basis for the enormous discomfort felt by those of us who believe we should err on the side of life not condemn someone to die when there are loving parents willing to assume care for their daughter.
