Terri Schiavo's Estranged Husband Gets $1 Million Offer to Not Kill Her

Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A California businessman has offered Terri Schiavo's estranged husband $1 million to not starve her to death and to transfer legal guardianship for her to Terri's family.

Robert Herring, Sr., lives in San Diego and is the founder of WEALTHTV, a lifestyle and entertainment television channel. He also spent more than 30 years in the electronics industry as the founder and owner of HERCO Technology, which he later sold to a larger firm.

Herring contacted infamous attorney Gloria Allred to pay Michael Schiavo $1 million if he complies with Herring's request.

"After viewing video of Terri on television, I came to the belief that there was hope for her," Herring said in a statement Thursday. "As events have proceeded in the legal battle, it became clear to me that if something was not done for Terri, that all hope for her would be lost."

The money has been placed in a a trust account operated by Allred on Wednesday and the attorney sent a letter to Michael Thursday morning comunicating the offer.

There is no word on whether Michael will accept the offer. Should he do so, courts will still need to sign off on changing legal guardian ship for Terri.

Herring said he acted now because he is worried that Florida courts will not turn back on their decision to allow Michael to starve Terri to death next week.

"With a date of March 18th quickly approaching, and no other viable hope for Terri to be able to keep her feeding tube, I felt compelled to act," he said.

Allred confirmed Herring's rationale.

"It now appears that the court process is ending, and that the legislative process has failed to stop the removal of the feeding tube," she said.

"He recognizes that unless something is done immediately, Terri Schiavo is not likely to survive very long," Allred added. "Knowing that time is of the essence and realizing that he is fortunate enough to be able to help, he has decided to take action.".

Allred was the attorney for Amber Frey in the infamous Scott Peterson trial. Frey had an affair with Scott during the time he killed Laci and Conner Peterson.

The doctors who gave evaluations to Greer differed over the term, some stated it meant PERSISTENT, some stated it meant PERMANENT. Some said she was PVS , some not. Greer based his decision on whether new treatment would improve her condition. He decided it would not. Therefore she needed to die. It didn't matter if she stayed the same, there would have to be proof of a treatment that would improve her. All this is based on the acceptance she was PVS already. The law states that to be PVS she must be found to be NOT AWARE.

Anyone watch the short video on FOX NEWS. Where she is smiling and listening to her mother. Looking directly at her mother, sitting up in bed???

Hubby is the one who "said" that's what she said...motive questionable. The Judge disallowed testimony to the contrary by her close friend (no motive) because he (the Judge) was mistaken about the timing of a related event. Karen Quinlan's death....When later corrected on that point he refused to change his ruling on the contrary testimony anyway with no excuse. No one can be sure whether Terri said she wanted no artificial support but it is contrary to her personality and religious beliefs according to those who know her best.

The judge's ruling was reviewed by the appeals court. They reviewed the transcripts and evidence, and agreed that she would not want to live like that.

That thought did cross my mind while writing my reply, but we are only human, after all. ;-)

Seriously, See post #122 here by UCANSEE2 . Some doctors have referred to PVS as permanent. Some doctors have referred to it as persistent. So we were both right-- or wrong-- depending on viewpoint.

Apparently, there is nothing straightforward about this... Sigh.

Do you have a source for that?

She said she wouldn't want to live like that, hooked up to machines.

There are NO machines. Only a feeding tube. He wants to starve her to death. That goes above and beyond pulling the plug on a machine.

"No way! You people are cracking me up. Where do you get this nonsense about her not being allowed to eat and drink? A judge can't, and won't order such a thing."

Ohhh, Lil Angel, IF only you knew! He's ALREADY done it twice, and going for a third time! You gotta read what's been going on - you'd be appalled. That's why we (all the Freepers) are so up in arms!

Not all the Freepers. The first post I saw on this (when I was viewing "Latest Messages") was from somebody who supports her right to die. That's what drew me to this thread. I thought there would be compassionate people here. I was right about that to a certain extent, but I'm surprised so many people want to force her to stay hooked up to something she said she didn't want.

a) You can't seem to understand what many here have said - she's not "hooked up"

b) You also don't know for sure Terri said she didn't want this - it's hearsay. And apparently only Michael's hearsay.

Three people testified that Terri said she wouldn't want to live like that. The friend who said she would want to live like that wasn't credible. She made up some story about conversation she had with Terri about Karen Quinlan, after Quinlan was dead. The friend thought Quinlan was alive at the time, and made up a conversation with Terri about it.

"Michael's soul is already cursed. At the very least, he will have a really long time in purgatory before he EVER gets any divine judgment on his life."

Ah, you missed the good news!

2 Corinthians 5:5 - 8

[5] Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

[6] Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

[7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

[8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

There is NO purgatory.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and the CONVERSE is true for UNBELIEVERS, which surely dear Michael is NOT. Michael will go straight to hell at God's discretion.

I don't like him, but that's beside the point. She said she wouldn't want to live like that. What's so hard to believe about that? I don't know anybody who'd want to live like that.
