This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.

Yep. No way he can get a fair trial. Might as well shoot him. JMHO

Remember the case from about 20 years ago involving a cop killer. The state troopers were transporting him between counties, and there were a couple of car loads of civil rights workers tagging along to make sure nothing happened. Somehow the observers weren't able to keep up and lost sight of the cops. While they were trying to regain contact, the killer chose that opportunity to make his break, and was shot while escaping. That's the South for ya. (big, happy grin)

...have a cable strapped to the gun...
Lanyards are outdated. Modern holsters make it much more difficult for perps to 'steal' the pistol from an officer. Simple, cheap solution.
PS: Good first name!!!!

"Boy, it's going to be hard to seat a jury now."
Let's hope we needn't waste the time on trial.

I didn't see this reported on the thread. Schools in SW Atlanta are under lockdown.

My point was that this is a LIVE THREAD about breaking news; the time to pontificate about what might have offended you on the TV screen is another time on another thread.

Actually, I wasn't clear: I meant ANY jury ANYWHERE.
Would you?

Of course, the person's right to a fair trial overrules security, even if they're the scum of the earth.

Because Republicans buckle whenever Democrats want to appoint liberal judges or weaken the law.

I am listening to a reporter on an Atlanta radio station. She made the following statements. The guy was out on bond. The guy had been stopped two times earlier trying to smuggle "shanks" into this courtroom. I simply don't get it! How can a person on bond be still running around loose after attempting to smuggle knives into the courtroom? You can thank John Edwards and his ilk.
This story is an (unfunny) comedy of errors arising from numerous security lapses, with political-correctness at the root of all of them. It is the elephant in the room, woven through every aspect of this.
To: Howlin
Mad dogs SHOULD be shot. He's one for sure.
