This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
There was a cop killed on duty about ten years ago in an incident involving a suspect who wrestled a gun away from the cop's female partner. I couldn't imagine working in a law enforcement job where any number of my fellow officers are held to lower standards.
Isn't it the truth? We are a group among few, aren't we? Most of us actually LOVE lawyers and the law. You have to have a really weird sense of humor to do this work.
Who would have ever thought that a job like that could be this dangerous.
And God bless proofreaders!!
This guy (unfortunately) was darn a good shot. He has hit everyone he aimed at in the head.
I thought she would have died since she was shot at closer range, I assume, then the deputy outside.
Prayers for all of these victims and their families!
I was being polite..
This isn't realistic - this guy would be a hero in prison. This guy is a beast and is the type of guy that would be the kingpin of a prison.
However, I am in Alpharetta right now.
He was on trial for kidnapping and raping his girlfriend. The police might be working on the assumption that he's looking for her.
Perp overpowered female deputy, and probably shot her through the mouth immediately. I'm guessing he took her for dead.
He then apparently held the courtroom hostage for a period of time and instructed the bailiff to handcuff undetermined persons.
At that point, he shot the judge and court reporter in the head killing them both and fled on foot. As he left the courtroom, he apparently encountered another deputy whom he shot in the chest and killed. He stole a car fromt he garage, traveled to another nearby parking garage and took a woman's car at gunpoint. Some reports indicate that he took the woman hostage as well.
A car has been located matching the description of the carjacked vehicle, but there is currently some doubt as to whether this is indeed the subject vehicle.
That's where we are at this point.
Wait til DocH hears this
Kind of makes your screen name relevant, doesn't it? :-)
I believed what they'd been saying from the first moments that it was a male deputy and he was dead, now I find out it's a live female? Sheesh!
OMG, what a brave guy! He did the right thing. I hope he'll be OK.
Some come from the Land of Nod
What? Tell the rest of that story, please!!!!

Tow truck driver tells of dramatic confrontation
By STACY SHELTON | Friday, March 11, 2005, 12:09 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Deronta Franklin, a tow-truck driver, was waiting for a dispatch at Peachtree and Wall streets in downtown Atlanta when he saw a dark SUV round the corner and hit the curb. The driver pulled into a parking deck behind him, and waited.
Seconds later, two police cars followed and stopped at the corner.
I pointed directly into the parking deck and they went in, said Franklin, 37.
The suspect burst through the garage gate and sped in.
Three more officers [in vehicles] came up and said Which way did he go? I told them He went right up in there.
Franklin said the next thing he knew, the SUV driver was at his window pointing a gun at him. He told me to get out of the truck and I told him he could have the truck, Franklin said.
Franklin said the gunman was about 6 feet 1 inch, about 200 lbs, and was wearing turquoise green or blue suede jogging suit. Franklin watched as the man got in his truck and sped north on Peachtree Street, and took a left in the wrong direction on Walton Street, a one-way street.
After hearing about the wake of death the man left, Franklin said Im surprised he didnt shoot then. I was just fortunate.
A Tow Atlanta Inc. CEO Page Porter said the companys truck was later found at 98 Cone St.
You took the font right off my keyboard.
Good update. That's about what we've been hearing. That helps all the new readers. Thanks.
Oh if he lives, that'll be his defense! He turned into a mentally unstable person the day he became Satans assistant.
Good summary. I think you got it all right.
*ahem* Don't I get partial credit for the observation that he can't be an illegal, because he couldn't get a Driver License????
