TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A judge ruled Thursday that the state's social services agency cannot delay the removal of the feeding tube keeping brain-damaged Terri Schiavo alive.
The Department of Children & Families had asked for a 60-day delay in the removal of the feeding tube, now scheduled March 18. The agency said it wanted time to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect by the woman's husband, Michael Schiavo.
But Circuit Judge George W. Greer ruled that the agency's attempt to get involved at this point was inappropriate and "appears to be brought for the purpose of circumventing the court's final judgment ... in violation of the separation of powers doctrine."
Michael Schiavo's attorney had criticized the last-minute attempt by DCF to get involved, saying that it was engineered by Gov. Jeb Bush and others in the state government who support the plight of her parents who are trying to keep her alive.

Michael Schiavo has gotten a court order to remove the feeding tube, contending that his wife told him she wouldn't want to be kept alive artificially. A 1990 heart attack cut off oxygen to her brain for five minutes, leaving her in what the court has ruled is a vegetative state with no consciousness. She breathes on her own but depends on a tube in her abdomen for food and water.
But her parents doubt she had those end-of-life wishes and are trying to block removal of the feeding tube.
The judge's ruling was another major blow to Bob and Mary Schindler, who have fought their son-in-law in court for nearly seven years over their daughter's fate. They dispute that she is in a persistent vegetative state, saying she laughs, cries, interacts with them and tries to speak when they visit her at her hospice.
The DCF said it wanted to investigate accusations against Miachel Schiavo - who is her legal guaridan - that included denying his wife some medical treatment and therapy, isolating her in her room with the blinds closed, failing to fix her broken wheelchair and failing to file timely guardianship plans.
In his order, Greer noted that those and many other allegations have been investigated in the past and failed to yield any evidence of abuse and neglect by Michael Schiavo.
Other than trying to appeal judge's decisions that have gone against them this week, the Schindlers will look again to the state Legislature and perhaps the U.S. Congress for help. Both bodies have bills in the works that lawmakers say could save Terri Schiavo's life.
In Tallahassee Wednesday, a House committee approved a bill requiring doctors to provide nutrition and hydration to incapacitated patients who didn't leave an advance directive. It still needs approval from two more committees before facing the full House.
Bush, who has said he would do anything within his power to save Terri Schiavo, supports the bill.
The governor in October 2003 pushed a law through the Legislature authorizing him to resume the woman's artificial feedings six days after the court stopped them. The law subsequently was ruled unconstitutional by the state Supreme Court.
On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon and U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, both Florida Republicans, introduced legislation in Washington that could give the Schindlers access to federal courts in the effort to save their daughter's life. Their bill requires that incapacitated people who don't leave advance directives have attorneys appointed to give the case a full review before artificial life support is terminated.

They didn't expect her to make it through the night.
When she got there, they filled her with 2 QUARTS of fluid.
She is not in the clear yet- but doing better.

Sort of like Michael saying he called 911, but didn't. Another liar of course.
The difficulty with that is that the court has said that these incidents aren't repeatable. It says the Schindlers have taken film the one time that it appears Terri is responding and discarded the rest of the time when she doesn't. Actually, as far as I know they haven't said so explicity, but they might as well have said so with their findings of fact.
I don't know what to believe from the facts I've been shown. I'm sure Michael Schiavo could film a tape of Terri not responding if he could selectively edit, too. You know he could.
None of us are there in her room. We're mostly hearing arguments from hired guns, or those with an agenda far bigger than Terri, on both sides of the fence. Of that, I have little doubt.
I've often said on these threads that the best solution is for Michael to divorce Terri and let her parents take care of her. He was offered a million dollar incentive to do that today. Why he persists, I don't know. Most of the common reasons offered on these threads don't make much sense after 15 years. My best guesses are either that he's being co-opted and funded by some euthanasia groups, or that he truly believes Terri is gone and she would have wanted to be un-tubed and he's fighting for that.
My guess is the former.

I thought my mother would be mad at me for going to FLorida under the circumstances... but instead- she was so mad about my grandma having to go through this...
My grandma has was FINE until they put her in this home-- she had her leg amputated- gang green almost killed her...
But- when she recovered- her mental abilities were just as sharp as ever....
My mother lives here with me in Georgia- they live in PA- my aunts and uncles have been LESS THAN ATTNETIVE!

Evil is being unmasked
Or maybe the mask is slipping or satan is peeling it back himself or like in the movie, Mask.
Heavy duty evil is afoot and some may find interesting the peeks behind the mask (ughhh) And those who think like me that satan is working overtime with lots at stake in this possible sea change of good versus evil, may appreciate my references. I see Terri’s plight as a full court press with demons swarming all around like critters in that Gremlins movie. I perceive extraordinary interconnections of unholy allies and you all might find more.
Is what we are seeing in all its ugliness coincidence, or is there a supernatural dark link?

Now do I think all that is coincidence? I think not. Ok, now consider things in common with the other band of ugly brothers, and what do they have in common?
I deign not to impugn another religion or whatever some call it, but Scientology appears as a common ground. How can I impugn it when it attracts such illuminated intellectuals as Tom Cruise?
Nevertheless, their collective musings on the wonders and marvels of mercy murder do ring a common note.

All this is just too much for a poor FReepers like me, so maybe others can delve deeper. Looks to me like more than a tin foil hat conspiracy of mere humans, but a dark supernatural collaboration. Look at all those who have hovered over these threads, ready to attack Terri’s defenders, (Not that there is anything wrong with that..../sarcasm) Look how they are driven to fly and circle above what they hope to be carrion in this tragic field. Look at how they fly out of caves every time we defend Terri. What drives them to pick at a horrible tragedy, a conspiracy of other human detractors? Naw, dark forces, I tell you. Proddings from satan’s minions.
As some wiser folk have observed, this is developing into an epic battle of good versus evil with consequences ranging further than we might imagine now. That is my take. (Watching the blue skies above.....for arcing, circling birds).

I think Michael may have been co-opted too...I see that on both sides. According to both Greer's and the DCA's rulings, they viewed the full tapes (about 4 hours), and found Terri's responses could not be duplicated, and she often didn't respond at all. We have no way to make our own judgement, because the full=length videos are not available for public view.

You believe the courts in-spite of your own eyes. I could take a video of you when are asleep and call you comatose. too. I could inject you with a drug that would make it appear you are comatose, too. When will you admit that this woman has some rights in this case? Never I presume.
