Venezuelan president accuses US of trying to assassinate him

PARIS, March 9th, 2005 (Xinhuanet) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias said in Paris Wednesday that the United States attempts to assassinate him.

At a news conference held here, Chavez warned that "if the United States succeeds in assassinating me, Venezuela's oil workers will not sell even a drop of oil to it, and the people's movement triggered by the assassination will make the oil price exceed 100 US dollars a barrel."

He reiterated that his country had enough evidence to prove the US attempt.

Chavez arrived in Paris on Wednesday for a 24-hour working visit, during which he met with French President Jacques Chirac. Before coming to France, Chavez paid a four-day visit to India.

The relations between Caracas and Washington have been tense since Chavez and US President George W. Bush took office.

Chavez has repeatedly accused Washington of planning to assassinate him and initiate a military intervention against Venezuela, which is the world's fifth-largest oil exporter and produces more than 3 million barrels of crude oil a day.

The United States imports about 15 percent of the oil it needs from Venezuela.

"FOX NEWS BREAKING NEWS ALERT: Venezuelan President Chavez eaten by sharks while giving speech at seaside refinery; successor blames US for "trained SEAL killer sharks"."

Yeah, if you say so.

If Bush is stupid enough to let this clown live, something is really wrong. Hezbollah is all over the place in South America.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias said in Paris Wednesday that the United States attempts to assassinate him.

Pure BS. The US does not operate like that.

But in his case (and others), we should.

You are right, Hugo has opened the doors for Islamic terrorist groups and he must be considered as dangerous as they are.

He is making a great argument for state-sanctioned assassination.

He's the new poster boy for it, IMHO.

This from a guy who wrote a love letter to Carlos the Jackal.

This threat, to refuse to sell oil to the US, is only going to impress the rubes who don't realize that he has no power to cut off US oil supplies. As long as he sells to someone, its the same as selling it to us. And if he refuses to sell to anyone, he is bankrupt in about two hours.

As for his accusations that the US wants to assassinate him, that is a propaganda ploy, which allows him to demonize his opposition as "traitors" and "foreign agents" while he threatens them, has them beaten, arrested, and killed. It also keeps his minions whipped up in a frenzy which makes them easier to manipulate.

He makes it sound almost like that would be a bad thing.

Somehow it is always Jock Chirac in the middle of any thing anti-American.

Two real big asshole's pictured together and neither one would make a decent hemorrhoid.

ACTION PLAN FOR CHAVEZ:

1. Go to Iraq.
2. Don't tell anyone else you're there.
3. Make buddy-buddy with the terrorists.
4. Get in your car and drive through the airport checkpoints REALLY FAST.

It's to the point that it's not if they hit us again, it's when. The Mexican government is corrupt as they come.

If he's going to make the accusation so often, we might as well take a few shots.

This guy needs to stop doing drugs with the dealers. They are warping his brain. I only wish we still did assassinate the bad guys.

He and his buddies Fidel and Kim just can't stand being anywhere but the center of the spotlight. I've known small children like that.
