BUSH ADMINISTRATION, CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS FULLY TO BLAME FOR TERRORIST ACCESS TO GUNS
White House, Justice Department, Republican Congressional Leaders Ignored Warnings In Rush to Please National Rifle Association
Washington, D.C. - For more than three years, law enforcement leaders, policy experts, reasonable members of Congress and advocacy groups have been arguing that bills passed by Congress and policies set by the Bush White House were going to make it easy for terrorist organizers to arm themselves for attacks against innocent Americans.
But the inner circle in power in the nation's capital wore blinders, singularly focused on delivering victories for the National Rifle Association.
"Today, Americans are learning the price that we've paid to please a special interest. And it's very, very disturbing," said Michael Barnes, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence united with the Million Mom March. "The report issued by the Government Accountability Office makes it painfully clear that there are people who hate America who have become stronger because of the gun policies of the last four years."
Congress is planning to move as rapidly as possible to deliver another prize to the NRA: unprecedented legal immunity for gun sellers, even if their negligence arms criminals and terrorists. The ludicrously named "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" has been reintroduced in the Senate (S. 397) with 42 cosponsors and the House (H.R. 800) with 141 cosponsors.
In the past four years, the Bush Administration and Congress have taken numerous steps to satisfy the extreme gun lobby which only benefit criminals and terrorists, including the following:
Required that Brady background check records be destroyed within 24 hours - a move that was opposed by the FBI Agents Association, which said "the more the retention period is reduced, the more difficult it would become to use the paperwork to investigate or prosecute crimes related to the use of sales of the firearms in question. Any such efforts can only complicate the already difficult task of law enforcement and jeopardize public safety."
Prevented Federal law enforcement agencies from requiring that gun dealers conduct inventories. This curtails investigations of dealers who show a continued pattern of selling weapons that are swiftly used in connection with crimes.
Allowed the expiration of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, making weapons like Uzis, AK-47s and concealable Tec-9s, as well as high capacity magazines that can hold up to 100 rounds, legal again.
"President Bush must take a stronger stand against criminals and terrorists by reversing these policies," Barnes said. "And it's simply incredible to think that leaders in Congress, instead of addressing these loopholes, would be doing more of the bidding of the extreme gun lobby."
It's all Bush's fault. LOL
Correct me if I'm wrong, but no guns were involved in the 9-11 attacks. Also, the weapon of choice among terrorists is the suicide bomber.
Yawn.
Shep Smith covering it all now!
As far as I know, no terrorists have stocked up at the gun store and gone on a rampage. However, I do remember a group of Muzzies who LEGALLY bought airline tickets and boxcutters and then went on a rampage.
My bad, he said the story was coming up on The Fox Report.
These Brady moon-bats think anyone who owns a firearm is a terrorist. These freaks would have fit in nicely in Nazi Germany in the 1930's
Bird cage liner.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but no guns were involved in the 9-11 attacks. Also, the weapon of choice among terrorists is the suicide bomber."
I just want to confirm that you are indeed correct. This news release is nothing more that preposterous fear mongering in the absence of an issue with any substance. No terrorist would be stupid enough to believe they could pose any meaningful threat to Americans with conventional firearms.
THE USED BOX CUTTERS, STUPID!

The president of the Springfield, Ill., chapter of the Million Mom March faces charges of having drugs and an illegal handgun in her home. Press reports said the gun's serial number had been scratched off....
Police reportedly found the gun and illegal drugs while executing a search warrant at Stevens' home in connection with a spate of drive-by shootings in the area. Stevens insists the search was illegal...
The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) called it a classic case of "liberal elitists" who "cannot walk their own talk." ...
Press reports said Stevens did not have the ID card required of Illinois firearms owners.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms called it ironic that "this poster mom for gun control" has admitted keeping an illegally altered handgun in her home while she's campaigned to deprive other citizens of their firearms....

and no matter how many times a Brady Campaign lie is exposted, their anti-second amendment forces will have 10 positive stories to one mention of a pro-group and even then it will be a negative second amendment spin.
It could be that the Brady pukes see us, legal gun owners, as 'terrorists out of their insane fear of guns.
At least, they hate US owning guns but not their bodyguards.
Just more anti-Constitutional crap upon the law-abiding citizens as usual from the left, and thier flunkies -- using Brady as they have to achieve their anti-American agenda. Standard operation procedure.
Brady and the RATs are doing their best to MAKE felons out of otherwise law-abiding gun owners. Circular logic to be sure, but it won't help get you out of jail. Here in the 9th Circuit Court the Second Amendment has effectively ceased to exist as a right.
Interesting. The Brady Campaign wants to forbid selling guns to brown-skinned men who speak english with an accent, but have not committed any crime or any other violation of a rule or regulation. And the Democrats support this.
And the constitution is fully to blame for my ability to protect myself.
