I've seen a "real" accidental discharge... 7 of them, in fact.

At a USPSA competition, the either the sear or disconnector on a friend's 1911 broke. The first round was fired on purpose: The next 7 rounds were fired full-auto!

Now THAT'S an AD!

Its a shame that Ms. Farmer and her nephew were "educated" by this man in regards to gun safety. Now these people will forever feel that this negligent discharge of the gun was because of the gun.

I don't know if this an accurate snapshot of this man's professionalism. But that was an ignorant, stupid moment that he had there.

Glocks aren't the problem. Morons are the problem.

Back in the early 80's I used to frequent a local gun shop that had a nice collection of bullet holes in the carpet. Oh, and one in the front window frame.

All were from police officers, HPD and Harris Co. constables carrying 1911's cocked and locked.

Was it a gun problem? Not a chance. It was the loose nut behind the wheel.

Keep your booger hook off the trigger until you wish to fire, and all will be well.

I have to admit, I've observed a similar thing one time. After looking at the weapon involved, it was so poorly maintained that I would almost have to classify that as an ND. You're correct though, mechanical failures can result in AD

I always learn something from fellow Freepers. Who knows? What I learned from you may be the most important thing yet. Both my son and son-in-law carry Glocks (among other handguns).

Not this one... IIRC, it was a beautiful combat carry custom job done by Ed Brown (though it may have been another top-notch gunsmith... It's been too many years). And he took excellent care of his handguns. Just one of those things that happens. And of course, he had the weapon pointing safely downrange. Everybody was in shock... After an instant, he dropped the mag and started reaching for a fresh mag to finish the course, when the RSO grabbed him and called and AD-DQ.

I was more interested in my stuff than his. I didnt look that closely at the gun or ammo and Im not familiar with the glock.

I told him to show it to the shop owner. I never got a full analysis of the problem.

It was a loaner gun and he may have used the wrong ammo.

He was ok and I didnt investigate I just told him to put it away after the 2nd failure

This guy had spent a lot of time overseas.

He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. Then he pulled back the slide and asked someone in the audience to look inside the gun and confirm it wasn't loaded, the report said.

Sounds like a false police report.

I can tell you that A-Merc ammo is one of if not the worst of the worst "factory" reloads out there. If that was what your friend was shooting, then all bets are off.

But I have to say, when you make a post about a firearm and get it wrong, as your post did, people tend to jump... HARD.

Sorry if I jumped the gun this time. Please find out what he was shooting and what ammo. The more info the better.
