How many FReepers with M1911A1 experience in the military have seen the classic? Walk up to the clearing barrel, pull the slide back and inspect the "empty" chamber, let the slide go forward, remove the magazine, sort of carelessly point the business end at the clearing barrel and BANG? I have seen it more than once. The look of surprise is usually worth 1,000 words.

The chart is hopelessly out of date.
All new Glocks have a loaded chamber indicator.
and all LEO Glocks have 8.5 pound pull triggers.

Love Reno 911, but I can never catch it on anymore. Are they showing new episodes?

Sad thing, he's probably still carrying, and wasting taxpayer money chasing down small-time dopers. Could be worse, he could be with BATF.

"I'm the only person in this room professional enough to handle this Glock 40." That is just like saying, "Hold my beer. Hey y'all watch this!"

I have never been in the military, tho I have always admired them, but I see how that would happen every time, assuming the mag was loaded.

Didn't know that. I googled up some pics and didn't see one either. Maybe none of them were new enough.
Just a feel good doo-dad that would need to be removed anyway.

Is DEA really that bad? By all indications, I'd say so. And my wife's 2nd cousin is one of them. We sure wish he'd gone Border Patrol when he left a municipal police department, after his Navy stint. That was his other choice.

He had an AD. Duh!
Is this is what classrooms have come too? A platform for JBT's in corn-row and dreads to encourage future participants in up-coming episodes of "COPS", given this person's apptitude, it would inspire me to take my chances with the high-speed chase rather than succumb to the ill-effects of poor weapons handling by this goof.

You must be joking. He didn't do too bad? He discharged a large caliber handgun in a classroom filled with children.
Basic gun safety would have prevented this. Dropping the magazine and cycling the mechanism several times to ensure a clear chamber would have been the minimum a responsible gun owner or LEO would do. This guy is an imbecile. He is lucky no one was seriously injured and that he didn't lose a foot or a leg. This is the type of thing that gives the gun grabbers ammo to work with. Jeez, this is one of the worst displays I've ever seen.
To: hattend
Witnesses said the gun was pointed at the floor and when he released the slide, one shot fired into the top of his left thigh. Man, the guy is even dumber than I thought, trying to go on with his presentation after shooting himself in the thigh. Ouch.
But after seeing that, my nephew doesn't want to have anything to do with guns."
Wrong Lesson, although the one intended by the DEA agent I believe.

Well the poor guy might as well resign now. He will be the butt of jokes for as long as he stays in the agency.

Sad thing, he's probably still carrying, and wasting taxpayer money chasing down small-time dopers. Could be worse, he could be with BATF. From the article at post #79:
The agent was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center after the April 9 shooting and returned to work, DEA special agent Joe Kilmer said.
Police ruled the shooting was an accident, but the DEA headquarters in Washington was still investigating, Kilmer said.
=====
Now, this incident happened last April, so maybe the "investigation" put him in an office job....doubt it, though.

Just so... take careful note of the direction of the muzzle at the moment of discharge! Wow he was almost a candidate for a non posthumous Darwin award. Very near thing that.

Well, at least he moves on to the M4 rifle to show his skillz.

There was no point to having any ammunition anywhere near those guns in a room full of children. Not necessarily. Gonna be hard to protect the children with an empty gun, don't you think. I'd hope that "resource officers" assigned to schools are armed with loaded weapons. It would be better if many teachers were as well, but that happen (legally!) about the time hell freezes over.
