Skip to comments.Trump: I'd Fire Dan Rather

Megabucks real estate mogul Donald Trump, whose patented phrase,"You're Fired," has become the centerpiece of NBC's hit show "The Apprentice," said Sunday that he'd fire CBS News anchorman Dan Rather if he had the chance.
"I would have fired him a long time ago," Trump told "Fox News Sunday." "I would have said, 'Dan, you're fired.'"
The recently remarried gazillionaire went on to elaborate:
"I'm not a big fan of Dan Rather. I don't want to be a fan of Dan Rather. I don't think he's good at the news. I don't think a lot of people think he's good at the news. He was always highly overrated."
Of the Memogate scandal the precipitated Rather's departure this Wednesday from the anchor chair at the "CBS Evening News," Trump said, "It was disgusting the way it was handled by Dan Rather. And I don't know why they're firing other people - he was the head of it. So why aren't they firing Dan Rather?"
The real estate tycoon did admit that he has some personal animus against the retiring newsman.
"He did a report on me that was basically dishonest," Trump told Foxman Chris Wallace "So since then, I don't deal with him."
Trumper calling Rather dishonest is really a pot calling the kettle black
That statement implicating Rather could have been made by thousands of people in this world.
Dan Rather is a totally delusional old lying creep.
Maybe he'll go down to Texas now and look for the source of those documents (not). Or do we have to wait for Mary Mapes to tell us the source in her book (not again).
As one FReeper said yesterday: "Memo Real; Nobody lied" -- chisel that on his tombstone.
I never could stand Trump but now I'm having second thoughts.
I hear you. I worry about a grown man who wears that Christmas tree 'angle hair' all over his skull.
Good one..........my concern is what is in his heart and soul.......
Trump comes off as a bit of a dufus to me but at least he has the required number of brain cells to see what a jackass Dan Rather is! Good riddance to him!
Rather should stay in New York. Real Texans don't want him polluting the state.
The Donald needs to work on fixing that piece of flap he calls hair! That's gonna whip up on a windy day and cause a person to lose an eye! Get it fixed The Donald!
LOL that thing drives me crazy. It's unattractive and it's silly.
Trump has the b--ls to say what most of us agree with, and some of us respond with attacks on him. Wierd.
Folks, if someone you don't like says something reasoned, it's okay to agree and be happy.
Kudos to Trump. He's right on target with his comments. He gave full disclosure. He's visible enough that many people are going to hear our opinion, at least from some quarter.
He's so weird, but he's not anything like the slime, Dan Rather.
You're fired. Did Trump invent the phrase?
Don't believe Newsmax got this right, or if they did, I'm filing patents on the remaining clickes in the English Language starting tomorrow morning. Maybe I'm missing something.
A patent for an invention is the grant of a property right to the inventor, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Generally, the term of a new patent is 20 years from the date on which the application for the patent was filed in the United States or, in special cases, from the date an earlier related application was filed, subject to the payment of maintenance fees. U.S. patent grants are effective only within the United States, U.S. territories, and U.S. possessions. Under certain circumstances, patent term extensions or adjustments may be available.
The right conferred by the patent grant is, in the language of the statute and of the grant itself, the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, or selling the invention in the United States or importing the invention into the United States. What is granted is not the right to make, use, offer for sale, sell or import, but the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, selling or importing the invention. Once a patent is issued, the patentee must enforce the patent without aid of the USPTO.
There are three types of patents:
1) Utility patents may be granted to anyone who invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof;
2) Design patents may be granted to anyone who invents a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture; and
3) Plant patents may be granted to anyone who invents or discovers and asexually reproduces any distinct and new variety of plant.
make clickes read cliches
It's okay to agree. :-)
Oh, right. Well, I guess it could be worse...
