So this is why my wine rack is stocked with Pinot and my Cabernet is hidden in the closet. Wait till Mrs T gets home...

However, if word ever got out to my suppliers or employees, my career would be over, they'd eat me alive! :-)

With fava beans and a nice chianti.

Thanks, I'm in Abilene now and there's one good wine store here, but I'll ask about it.

Shiraz/Syrah is for Homosexuals.

Interesting that you made the first homosexuality reference on this thread not about homosexuality. Anything you care to tell us, Clemenza?

"OK Freepers, now for a lesson from FR's resident wine steward, Clemenza:
Cabernet is for Men.
Merlot is for Girls.
Shiraz/Syrah is for Homosexuals."

How incredibly interesting. Especially since the syrah grape is the base for shiraz/syrah, and said grape results in a peppery wine, which is what a cabernet usually is. Now to take your point a bit further, the 'generalizing public' views homosexuals as being feminine, and according to your analysis, females prefer merlot... which would lend one to conclude that homosexuals would then prefer a merlot as well... yet, you claim their wine is shiraz/syrah. Furthermore, a shiraz/syrah goes best with a heavier food, such as venison, beef, and duck. To generalize even more, which is what we are apparently doing, the 'generalizing public' view is that homosexuals prefer lighter food, like fish and lettuce. Hmmmm. Very interesting indeed. Thank you so much, wine steward, for your lesson. This Freeper is now enlightened.
