Man, this guy had one hell of a determination. Most people who shoot themselves in the face and screw it up are usually in to much pain and shock to pull the trigger again. Then again, if you're trying to make it look like suicide and the victim squirms and the bullet misses the brain case from under the chin and goes out the mouth, the temple is the next logical "attempt".

Kuchma's cronies are getting suicided left and right. They were counting on Yanukovych's victory so they could keep the evidence of their crimes buried. Too bad for them.

Everyone would have easily believed the suicide verdict had Hillary's chief of staff not been seen running out of the office with a bunch papers hapharzardly stuffed inside a briefcase.
It is not impossible to shoot oneself in the head twice. A book I read by a forensic anthopologist discussed a case in which a lawyer shot himself five times in the head inside his locked office. He was still (barely) alive when the police broke in.

Run himself over with a speeding car

If I recall correct in the 1950s, Billie Sol Estes (One of LBJ's running buddies) was involved with a fella that killed himself by shooting himself in the chest five times with a bold action rifle.
Now, In West Texas of those days, they had some leather tough suicides...

Yep. That sure refutes it for me. Lots of people commit suicide by multiple head-shots.
When I was taking my Emergency Medical Technician classes, way back around 1970, we had a slide show of autopsy photos presented by the NY City medical examiner. There was the excised trachea with the whole hot dog lodged in it and a few others like that. Then he showed us a photo of a man's shaved head with 9 bullet holes in it.
He asked us "was this murder or suicide."
I immediately raised my hand and stated confidently "suicide." I reasoned that if it wasn't suicide then there's no logical purpose for even asking the question. Sure enough, I was right.
The guy had a small caliber handgun and fired into his head 4 times, flinching each time. For those first 4 shots there was an entry wound then a track under the scalp but above the skull (creasing it each time) and an exit wound, thus the first 8 bullet holes. Then he put the gun in the middle of his forehead and ended up with one more entry wound.
He died.
I agree it's unlikely in this case, but not impossible.
Now, a gruesome, but funny, cartoon from many years ago has police standing around in a commercial kitchen. There's a hand meat grinder with a pile of ground meat coming out the front, and an arm sticking out of the top feeder chute leading down to the hand crank.
One cop says to the other "That's the most determined suicide I've ever seen!"
