"Pakistani accused of nuke device exports"
LARA JAKES JORDAN
Associated Press
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "WASHINGTON - A Pakistani businessman illegally exported devices from the United States that could be used to test, develop and detonate nuclear weapons, the government alleged on Friday.
A federal indictment against Humayun A. Khan was unsealed along with a guilty plea by his alleged partner, Asher Karni, who admitted routing sophisticated oscilloscopes and high-speed electrical switches through South Africa to avoid raising authorities' suspicions. The scopes and the switches were then shipped to Pakistan.
The United States prohibits the export of the switches - also known as "triggered spark gaps," which can be used in medical and military devices - to Pakistan and a handful of other countries to prevent nuclear proliferation.
Khan, of Islamabad, maintained his innocence in an interview with The Associated Press last year. Homeland Security officials said he was not in custody and was believed to be in Pakistan.
The case raised "serious concerns," said Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Michael Garcia, because of the nature of the devices, the fact they were going to Pakistan, and efforts by Khan to disguise their destination."
Don't insult my intelligence. Don't insult my existence as a sentient being by telling me to move along, nothing to see here. I deserve better than that. We deserve better than that. Don't sell us short. Our Founding Fathers didn't; why should we?

"How many times have we heard an incident ruled "not terrorist related" when just prior, there was a terror alert relating to the very possibility of said incident?"
=====
I was thinking about the same thing.
My opinion is that many times it was indeed a REAL terrorist incident, that we were able to foil, but they don't tell the public, so as not to panic them, they just tell us it was a false alarm, so people go on with their life.
Hi Velveeta.
I was finally able to access that site.
Interesting.

No doubt of it at all. They work slowly, but surely. History tells it time after time, location after location. Question is, will they beat out Mexico in the bid for takeover?
Even more incentive to have Minutemen patrolling our borders. Only time will tell if more Border Patrol agents are "on the take."
Well, my best guess is that most the agents are fine people doing their jobs. Unfortunately, it's the bad apples that seem to garner the most press.
This story should be front page news and a top idiot-box news story as well, but what does anyone hear about it? Nada, zip, nothing!
As for the MinuteMen...
Amen!
I'm glad they are on the line, too.
I was there 2 years ago Chaos and the place frightened me.
Tell them to take the bus, it's cheaper and safer BUT not late at night! The closer they stick to their resort the better. Follow the guidlines for how to question the police there and be sure they know where the American consulate is.

I'll join both of you. The tenets of our country which Our Founding Fathers set forth are trampled to the ground and stomped on daily. There are a LOT of angry Americans right now and there wouldn't be Minutemen patrolling our borders if that wasn't the case.
When I just read about Homeland Security "sanitizing" reports, it made me sick to my stomach. If we can't trust those who are in charge of protecting us with accurate and truthful information, just who can we trust?

"China Moving to Replace US Influence in Latin America"
By Patrick Goodenough
CNSNews.com International Editor
April 08, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Pacific Rim Bureau (CNSNews.com) - China's growing influence in Latin America forms part of a "grand strategy" to counter U.S. dominance and eventually replace America as the world's most powerful nation, U.S. lawmakers have been told.
Officials and experts testifying before a House subcommittee hearing this week used different terms to describe the gravity of the challenge posed to the U.S. by Chinese actions in the Western Hemisphere, but they generally agreed that Washington needs to respond.
Lawmakers heard about Beijing's growing economic and political influence in South America and the Caribbean, developments described as "worrisome" by Peter Brookes, director of the Asian Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation.
China also is expanding its military-to-military contacts in the region, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roger Noriega told the panel. He cited reports of 20 visits to Latin America and the Caribbean by national-level Chinese defense officials, and nine such visits in the opposite direction.
During a visit to Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Cuba last November, Chinese President Hu Jintao announced $100 billion worth of investment over the next decade.
Brookes described Beijing's plans for the Western Hemisphere as part of its broader strategy to challenge the U.S."
{Classic nothing to see here}
The ever-increasing motto for any and every suspicious happening these days. No blame is ever placed and there is never further word on these happenings. They just "disappear." The ones we know about, however, become part of these threads and remain there to remind us that they are indeed happening.
