The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

Still I do not like the convergence of our military assets with that of the Russians, in the Med., at this critical time.

As far as the Zarquwi hit on US soft targets, absolutely no one on TM should be surprised by these reports.

We've all seen the reports of AQ going after soft targets. Vigilant folk can stop these types of attacks before they happen. WE ALL NEED TO KEEP OUR EYES OPEN FOR ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS. Any kind of sniper/shooting attacks can be minimized by folks with concealed carry permits, but you may have to give your life to stop the attack.

We've all seen the reports of MS-13 and AQ teaming up to smuggle terrorists into the country. We've all seen the reports of OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) swarming across the border. The mere fact that these reports have come out tells me the ones who will be actively participating in the upcoming attacks are already here.

This war HAS ALREADY COME TO OUR HOMETOWNS (see 9/11/01). It’s not up to the government to protect us as individuals. The government is here to protect the government. We are here to protect ourselves and each other. Do not leave your safety up to anyone else, especially the gov’t.

Your personal safety is your personal responsibility. Own up to it. Get and stay prepared. Be alert. See my FR Homepage for a basic list of actions to take and gear to have on hand BEFORE the next hit. Once the attacks (notice plural here as it more than one), it will be too late to prepare. Do it now.

What should we be watching for?

ADVISORY CONTENT:

(1) PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION & PRIVATE TOURS: Individuals using public transportation such as subways, trains and buses should exercise additional diligence and be alert to their surroundings. Caution should be exercised when gathered in confined areas associated with public transportation hubs such as train and bus stations. Individuals on tour buses are also urged to remain vigilant as these conveyances have been specifically named as potential targets of kidnapping in recent issues of the terrorist training manual Camp al Battar.

(2) BRIDGES, TUNNELS, LANDMARKS: When traveling by car, individuals are urged to be aware on approach to bridges and tunnels throughout the US, looking for any stopped trucks, including but not limited to tankers and closed cargo trucks at the base of bridges or tunnels. People are urged to identify, in advance if possible, outlets or alternate routes to escape from or avoid a potentially dangerous event. Landmarks have been included in this advisory as they have been peripherally referenced in recent forum postings and communications.

(3) MALLS, SHOPPING CENTERS: People are urged to be aware of any unattended bags, backpacks, briefcases or other unattended objects in all populated and congested areas. Consistent with the official US government warning recently issued, everyone should be on the lookout for anyone who appears out of place within the surroundings, especially those wearing bulky clothing that could potentially conceal explosive devices and/or chemical containers.

OPINION-SPECULATION. Who really knows what Zarqawi/Zarcawi/Sarqawi/Zarcoi/Zarkawee/Zarkawy/Zarkaweey is planning to do? I don't.

GUNMAN KILLS EIGHT AT NON-EVANGELICAL CHURCH SERVICE

 

     Police said Sunday they don't know why Terry Ratzmann burst into a Wisconsin church service and opened fire, killing seven people and then himself.

 

     Ratzmann, 44, stopped to reload his handgun during his assault Saturday on a Living Church of God service at a Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield, CNN reported police said.

 

     No suicide note or other documents have been found, and there was nothing in his background  "that would jump out, as to why he would have done this," CNN reported  Brookfield police Capt. Phil Horter said.

 

     CNN reported police said Ratzmann entered the service about 20 minutes after it began, saying nothing prior to pulling out his gun and opening fire. He shot 22 rounds, stopping to reload an additional magazine into the handgun.

 

     A woman who witnessed the shootings, however, said Ratzmann did speak, telling worshipers he had three clips of ammunition and he intended to kill all of them -- and himself.

 

     According to CNN four victims remained hospitalized Sunday. The victims ranged in age from 10 to 72; the 10-year-old was among those recovering. The victims were in the same general area of the room, police said.

 

     "This is a terrible tragedy," read a statement posted on the Charlotte, North Carolina-based Living Church of God Web site (www.livingcog.org). "We are cooperating with the authorities to find out what happened. Information is still coming in. We have deep concern and are fervently praying for the injured and for the families of the deceased."

 

WHAT IS THE LIVING CHURCH OF GOD?

 

     Even though some media (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4345827.stm and www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/11127224.htm) have been describing the Living Church of God as evangelical, it is not.

 

     Described by one newspaper as a "small, obscure church" (www.jsonline.com/news/state/mar05/309134.asp), the Living Church of God is a splinter group, led by Roderick Meredith, of the formerly controversial Worldwide Church of God (WCOG) founded by Herbert Armstrong.

 

     Meredith has reportedly said (http://home.datawest.net/esn-recovery/artcls/all_noth.htm), "The Living Church of God is carrying on the teachings and practices ... of Herbert Armstrong more than any other group on earth! ... LCOG is the true Church of God which teaches and practices Apostolic Christianity."

 

     The Watchman Fellowship commented (www.watchman.org/cat95.htm#W) that WCOG formerly rejected the essential doctrines of evangelical Christianity, denied the doctrine of the Trinity, the full deity of Jesus Christ and the personality of the Holy Spirit.

 

     "The church epitomized the somewhat eclectic set of beliefs and practices that became known as Armstrongism," the Watchman Fellowship wrote. "Beginning in the early 1990's under the leadership Armstrong's successors, Joseph W. Tkach and his son Joe Tkach, this group has undergone remarkable doctrinal transformation. They now hold to a traditional evangelical position on the nature of God and the gospel, teaching the Trinity and salvation by grace alone, through faith alone. Large numbers of its membership have left to join splinter groups (such as Meredith's Living Church of God) that still teach classic Armstrongism."
