Reps. Conyers, Slaughter, Thompson, Rangel and Waxman Author Resolution of Inquiry on GannonGate
Ranking Members Determined to Get Answers
Resolution Will Force Cooperation, Unless Blocked by House Republicans
Washington, DC - The Ranking Members for House Committees on Rules, Judiciary, Government Reform, Homeland Security and Ways and Means have authored a Resolution of Inquiry, which would require the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security to turn over all documentation regarding James Guckerts (AKA Jeff Gannon) regular access to the White House.
The resolution comes on the heels of repeated requests by Rep. Louise Slaughter and Rep. John Conyers that the White House and the Department of Homeland Security, which has jurisdiction over the Secret Service, turn over any and all materials related to the GannonGate issue. To date, the White House, the Secret Service, The Department of Homeland Security, and the Justice Department have all failed to respond to such requests.
We cannot allow the White House to stonewall the United States Congress and the American people on an issue of such importance. This is a matter of national security and unethical White House media manipulation. Everyday more questions are raised and so far, the White House is not providing any answers. We intend to find out what the White House is hiding. stated Congresswoman Slaughter.
We had hoped that the half dozen congressional and senate requests for information would have been sufficient. However, to date, they have not even merited a response from the White House or its agencies. We hope that this resolution gets to the bottom of whether any processes were abused in favoring Mr. Guckert, a fake reporter from a fake news organization, Rep. Conyers said.
The Resolution of Inquiry would force the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security to cooperate with Congressional leaders in determining the nature of Gannon/Guckerts regular access to the White House and whether or not Secret Service security protocols were violated and if so, by whom.
The resolution must be considered by the Judiciary Committee within 14 legislative days and, unless blocked by the Republicans on the Committee, will be put before the full House for consideration.
The included Dear Colleague letter was distributed to Members this morning and the following Members of Congress have already signed on as Original Co-Sponsors. A copy of the Resolution is also included below.

Dear Colleague:
Please join us in introducing the attached resolution, which requires the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security to turn over all documentation in their possession about how James Guckert (also known as Jeff Gannon) gained access to White House press events.
For nearly three years, the White House has been granting Mr. Guckert, a right-wing activist with no press credentials, access to the White House briefing room and presidential press conferences. This appears to violate long standing practices of carefully screening contacts with the president.
This special access not only raises security concerns, but calls into question the fundamental fairness of the White House press corps. Mr. Guckerts efforts as a propaganda machine for the White House may have even violated laws banning the Administration from using appropriated money for propaganda purposes. It further appears that Mr. Guckert had access to classified information, in violation of laws that protect the identity of undercover agents.
Because of these concerns, we will be introducing this resolution to inquire how the Justice and Homeland Security Departments were used to forward this agenda and whether any processes were abused in favoring Mr. Guckert and his ultra-conservative organization. We had hoped that the half dozen congressional and senate requests for information would have been sufficient. However, to date, they have not even merited a response from the White House or its agencies.
Sincerely,
John Conyers, Jr. Ranking Member Judiciary Committee Louise M. Slaughter Ranking Member Rules Committee Bennie Thompson Ranking Member Homeland Security Committee
Henry Waxman Ranking Member Government Reform Committee Charles Rangel Ranking Member Ways and Means Committee

Even the loony left understands it's a non story and refutes most of the so called charges.
Dums just keep reinforcing how rediculous, stupid, insipid, ignorant, lazy, and irrelevent they are. that's the best I can do without a Thesaurus.( It's early)
That's why I resist the temptation to accuse them of being hypocritical. Because everything they say and do is consistently in pursuit of that one single goal, even if they have to reverse their stated positions 180 degrees from one day to the next.
They are sick, demented, small minded, short sighted trolls consumed by an irrational thirst for the power they once had.
IMO that is exactly how the White House needs to handle this, they need to say they will investigate but will expand the investigation to include every "reporter" in the daily PC. They will make sure of their real names and make sure none are concealing anything in their personal lives.
Of course Kieth Olberman and his 16 veiwers will be pushing it until 2008!!!
I think they think they are still immune from scrutiny.
Thats all I can do with this.
Just laugh!
The loony left is afraid attention will be paid to what some of the rest of the press corps up to...
Not sure if the web site is still there, but a couple of years ago there was a site that had most of their names and more on it - - -might have even been the Socialists of America (or something similar) site.
This is a another waste of taxpayers $ by the Dims - - and w the usual suspects. I'd say it was a waste of their time, but with this group, it's probably better for the country that they're doing this rather than writing legislation.
I don't understand how they can demand this from the WH. What, if any rights do the congresscritters have over who the WH approves for press briefings? I don't see that this fits under their 'duties' (of course, that's never stopped them before).
They are using this to get the press diverted off of the success in the Middle East.Watch the play it gets this weekend...
Yes. Everyone I speak with cannot discuss anything else.
Perfect. The GOP should bow to pressure and suggest that Ken Starr investigate.
The reason for this quest is that the Democrat Party is on the verge of disintegration.
The positions taken by Boxer, Kennedy, Slaughter, etc are not desired by the party, but a necessary step to prevent the radical fringe from leaving (with their money)
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

lol. I had to borrow your penguin gif. It is perfect!
Corn is a sharp cookie, smart enough to know the dims are about to open a can of worms that they really don't want opened, but are to zealously after anything on bush, they can't see it.
As for Corn moving over from the dark side, to join us?
That is probably not going to happen. He's a liberal though and though, just happens to be not one of the inmates of lunatic fringe on a daily basis
Another fake resolution from a fake political party. I wonder when they will get a clue that a shrinking minority has no power to pass anything.
Hey I didn't miss that... I'm reveling in it.
